About Velvet
I've been a game master for close to two decades now, running Vampire the Masquerade, Blades in the Dark, and all kinds of fantasy RPGs including Pathfinder and Fabula Ultima. Vampire and Fabula Ultima are my favorites. I've also been on (and run) several actual play podcasts.

I became a GM because
I can't stop chasing the moment when a game takes on a life of its own.
I got started GMing...
because I played too many console RPGs in high school
My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Vampire: the Masquerade 5th Edition Fabula Ultima Blades in the Dark
How Velvet runs games
Long-running, deeply personal plots with themes crafted to fit your characters, backstories, and group dynamic! A big cast of unique, living NPCs! Player agency in the direction of the game, even in more linear systems!

Velvet's ideal table
You'll fit well at my table if you're a proactive role-player who takes an interest in the other player characters' stories! I work hard to foster an environment where everyone can banter back and forth in character and be invested. I'm not the sort of die-hard role player who demands in-character speak all the time and I love a group that can relax and have fun, but I'm not a "beer and pretzels" gamer either. I want to run a game that everyone can be genuinely invested in seeing through!

I love it when a player
volunteers consequences for themselves or another player. >:3
I think min/maxing...
isn't real. It's good to use the system you're playing to its fullest extent! It's good to have characters that are good at some things and bad at others!
My table is not the place for...
sitting quietly off to the side.
