I became a GM because

It became a healthy, creative platform for me to collaborate with others and further grow my soft skills.

My favorite books are

The Dark Tower series by Stephen King - The only series I'm content with ever completing. It taught me how things can connect through rich worldbuilding. Discworld series by Terry Pratchett - Stand-alone stories in a broader world full of whimsy. Taught me how comedic fantasy can be,

When I'm not running games I'm...

How Ian (Unfound Fables) runs games

My GM style is all about shared storytelling, with roleplay as the engine. I treat it as a conversation between everyone at the table. It's less about perfect voices, more about what your character wants, fears, and fights for. I’m collaborative and accommodating. I like to check in on what excites you: tense tactical combat, layered intrigue, emotional character drama, whimsical exploration, or a blend of them. I tune pacing, stakes, and spotlight so the experience feels tailored to your group. You can expect me to say “yes, and…” to bold ideas, weave your backstories into the world, and give you room to solve problems your way. I stay on top of the rules so you don’t have to, but never at the expense of a great moment. Above all, I keep an open mind. I run games to help you leave the table feeling seen, energised, and proud of the story you created.

I once ran a session...

Completely off the cuff and improvised. It was a last-minute booking, but I trusted the library of materials and tools at my disposal. The table relished the chaos and appreciated it when I wrangled it to move the story forward.

Rules are...

there to inform the genre. The players tell the story.

When it comes to voices

The more exaggerated, the better! I love having players laugh with me as I try out various accents.

Ian (Unfound Fables)'s ideal table

I run character-driven games where your choices matter, and your ideas are welcome fuel for the adventure. Expect an immersive world full of NPCs with opinions, locations that feel lived-in, and plots that respond to what you do. I’m there to set the stage, hold the tone, and make sure everyone gets a genuine moment to shine. You’ll fit in well at my table if you enjoy roleplay, like bouncing off other characters, and are happy to cheer for your party members as much as your own hero. First-time players are absolutely welcome; I specialise in helping new folks feel comfortable, explaining rules as we go, and making sure you’re never left behind. Experienced players who love narrative, character arcs, and creative problem-solving tend to feel right at home. The vibe is warm, respectful, and enthusiastic: lots of encouragement, room for big feelings and big laughs, and a steady pacing that keeps things exciting without rushing you. I prepare thoroughly, improvise freely, and always aim for sessions that feel polished, memorable, and worth your time.
