About Tycandus
I started playing D&D almost 50 years ago, through a community program where I grew up. It sparked a lifelong love affair with TTRPGs. I've played fantasy heroes, superheroes, cyber punk heroes, just about anything I could get my hands on. I ran my first game before I could drive, a horrible story that was more monster mash than anything else. Throughout the remaining years, I've learned to run a player centric campaign with a story rich framework, where player actions contain consequence, and the world reacts. I've got two separate campaigns that are broadcast on Twitch, using my homebrewed world Avenaria, one of which has been running for almost ten years. I look forward to bringing a rich toolset, garnered over almost 50 years of experience to the table, so that we can create a collaborative story!

How Tycandus runs games
I like to run a character centric story, with consequences for actions. A collaborative story where 'cinematic' actions are rewarded. I try for a balance of roleplay, combat and intrigue, where man NPCs are real and well rounded and the world actually seems alive.

My games focus on...
Collaborative storytelling. I provide setting, npc motivations, theme and initial plot. The skeleton of the story. The action and throughput for the story is driven by the player characters. The goal is to tell an epic story together.
When it comes to voices
For my players they're entirely optional, but appreciated. For me as a GM, I like to provide different voices for important NPCs. Of course, important NPCs are most often dictated by the PC interaction, so this can be fun.
Tycandus's ideal table
I like to keep my table light, and entertaining. We are, after all, here to have fun. Players that enjoy storytelling, character growth and a living world will find my table to be enjoyable. I also like to reward cinematic style descriptions at my table. A simple "I hit grunt 1 with my sword" will get the attack off, but a more cinematic "I feint to my left drawing grunt 1 off guard, then slide back to my right, slashing with a flourish" will get rewards of inspiration, and if the action warrants it, a roll to see if the action succeeds, with advantage given on success, normal rolls on a failure, or a normal attack roll with some sort of disadvantage in subsequent rounds. Essentially, if it's fun, exciting and adventurous, you'll find it at my table.

I love it when a player
Comes up with a creative solution to a problem presented to them. One that makes me and the other players go "Hmmmph." One that really makes me stay on my toes.
