About Damien
A creative mind that wants to open my own world up for the people so that they may enjoy this wonderful hobby. I'm a presenting male who holds great pride in their careful session prep, and grand attentiveness towards my players. I'm offering a player/fun first approach where the cooperative narrative my players wish to tell comes first. I've created a lore-rich world over the years, and wish to delve into it's secrets with new players who will develop their own characters, and become apart of that ever expansive world. This is the world of Valier, where the world itself seems to be alive. My goal for each game is to allow each player to fully immerse themselves in their characters, and tell the story they want to. Offering many ways to further enhance your particular character fantasy, from uniquely created items to custom features just for your character. I will mainly be running short campaigns set in my homebrew world of Valier, but I'll also be hosting a few one-shots, and running a few D&D 5E modules. Though, again, all my games are built for my players! Would you like to join me for a spell? Experience the wonders of roleplay, and forever be written into the history of Valier.

I got started GMing...
a while ago at the request of one of my friends. I learned... a few parts of D&D, and tried to run the game like that, but quickly learned that's not how you're suppose to do it. Soon after that first game, I learned how to actually run D&D. Now, I know almost everything about D&D!
My favorite system of all Time is
...most likely Wildsea. I enjoy the freeform nature of Wildsea, and there's not much about Wildsea's core system that I would change. I often base how much I like a system off of how much I'd change, or I can change. I do love D&D, but is a lot I'd change, and have. So, my answer is: Wildsea.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Typically, I'd be writing for them, working on one some of my own systems, playing games, watching shows or writing for many different story ideas!
How Damien runs games
Story & Plot • Narrative. Each game I make has a main story, and you could be a Player in that game, and have the ability to affect the outcome of the main story. The story is pre-written, if you were to do nothing, things will happen as they were written. It'll be up to you, and your fellow players to ensure that does not happen, or make the most out of a bad situation. • Consequences. There always will be logical consequences for every action, but a bit of mercy for the first few offensive. However, if you push the limits too hard, death is on the table. Combat • Roleplay First. If things can be solved through Roleplay or Theatre of the mind, we'll do that before placing things on the grid. • Rule of Cool. If it's cool, it'll usually pass if you meet a skill check or two. If it's really cool, and you roleplay it well, automatic natural 20 for you. However, that is rare. • Battlemaps. Lovely crafted battlemaps from various different creators whilst using tokens for allies and enemies. All done on Foundry VTT. Creativity • Player First. This is could be your game. I want to ensure all my players enjoy my games, and the stories they wish to tell. I weave backstories into the adventures whilst ensuring your character fantasy is the best it could be. • No One Solution. No matter the problem, any number of solutions could apply, be creative, and it just might work. • Cherished Ideas. I love hearing feedback or ideas, any and all are welcome.

I deal with rules issues by...
...casually debating them with whoever brought them up, and if they make good points, I'll concede with their take; If I still disagree, I'll make a rules call, and proceed with that ruling. At the end of the session, I'll ask all players if they were ok with that decision, and handle it then.
My games focus on...
...the players! Whilst I do have a great focus on narrative, my main focus will always be the FUN of the game, and if my players' are enjoying it. If my games are pay to play, I want them to have great fun with it!
Rules are...
...made to be broken. I love having rules as a framework within our game of pretend, but if the rules get in the way of good, casual fun then I'll break them. However, I'll still adhere to rules as a baseline, and first reaction. Rules exist so the game CAN be fun, can't break them all.
Damien's ideal table
My general table vibe can either be casual storytelling fun, or silly competitive combativeness. Either I'm your friendly neighborhood GM that laughs with you, or I'm playfully mad that my skeletons are getting exploded. It's all in good fun, and based on what my players want. To be clear, I'm looking for players who want to craft a fun story with a bunch of cool characters once a week. My games are for my players, and for crafting a narrative. A narrative that'll have it's ups, and downs while adhering to fun, rule of cool, and the dice! Perhaps for some games character death won't be on the table but conflict will always be a consistent. The players I've played with know this well, and often welcome that consistent conflict so that they can tell a compelling story with their characters. Lastly, I whole-heartly welcome new players to any game system they want to try! I'd love to be the reason someone getting into the hobby, and it'd be an honor.

I am for a vibe that's...
...fun first, narrative second. I've said enough about how I love narrative, but I'm hosting a GAME, and I want that game to be fun! Silliness, and fun stuff comes first. Though, if you find narrative, and storytelling fun... come join my table!
I think min/maxing...
...perfectly fine, however, I focus on narrative, and storytelling. I believe a single PC that can handle a combat encounter on their own might be a bit much, but a PC who has defined strengthens & weaknesses is perfectly fine. Just keep in mind, my games have a narrative focus.
My table is not the place for...
...taking out personal, real life, anger on other people at the table. If you wish to let out your negative emotions subtlety by attacking in-game enemy NPCs, more power to you, however I do NOT accept any amount of negativity directed at myself or other players.
