About Tom
I love running games for my friends and want to meet new people. My ideal role playing game experience is one part puzzle, one part strategy, and one part silly. Obsessed with Fallout, Elder Scrolls, and pretty much anything set in space.

How Tom runs games
I like to change styles depending on the players and the campaign. Some campaigns are longer and crunchier, and we'll need to sweat the small stuff. Some are more puzzle based, with Players sharing ideas and testing theories. Some are more character based, etc. So I'll just say that my ideal session of role playing should feel like a good Star Wars movie: roleplay to ground you in your character and in the setting; players set goals that make sense for their characters and what they're trying to accomplish; and then the party faces some sort of obstruction or enemy between them and their goal.
Tom's ideal table
The ideal table is one where everyone feels like their voice is heard and they have a chance to make an impact on the story. I want Players who want a challenge, who want to help tell a shared narrative, and who want to have a good time playing. Remember: it ain't fun unless it's fun for everyone! Please be prepared to be on camera. I also recommend making sure you're in a quiet environment. This is a shared narrative, and therefore I'm dependent on audience interaction. Not being able to see and hear each other makes having conversations much more difficult. And an off camera AFK really bums me out. Ultimately, you get out of the game what you put into the game: If you don't respect your fellow Players, you weaken the strength of the party; if you don't get involved in decision making, you weaken the intelligence of the party; and if you're too cool to do the role playing, you weaken the reality of the story.

I am for a vibe that's...
...easygoing and fun for Players, but with mystery and danger lurking around every corner for Player Characters. You'll have a good time, even if your Character doesn't ;D
I love it when a player
writes rich backstory, even if it's just in their head! It's the GM's job to set the scene, but it's the Player's job to live in it.
I think min/maxing...
is an understandable urge, but kind of silly for my games. None of my games are about "winning the game," they're about telling a story, solving puzzles, and generally having a good time. A perfect Character is boring, a flawed Character is interesting.
