About Paul

Looking for a place to have an epic adventure? Maybe you've already got a merry band of misfits, or you're hunting for one to call your own — either way, pull up a chair. I'm Paul, or Tigerboxer if you catch me online, owner and proprietor of the Tiger's Tale Tavern. Every table here is a chance to grab fate by the tiger's tail — to answer the call and see where the road leads. Some players come looking for one good story to tell when the dice stop rolling. Others are looking for something that sticks around a lot longer than that. At worst, you'll walk away with some new friendships and a few great memories to swap over drinks. At best? You'll have found a permanent seat at this table — and maybe even become part of the legend yourself.

My favorite books are

Anything by Asimov, Bradbury, or Scalzi. All time favorites are the Drak Elf trilogy by Salvatore or the Gentleman Bastard by Lynch.

My favorite system of all Time is

Daggerheart for sure. I love they it encourages everyone to have a stake in the story and to work as a party along with the GM to create a story.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Martial arts enthusiasts or out walking my dogs.

How Paul runs games

I want to know why your character makes the choices they do, not just what they roll for it. Bring a real backstory and a clear sense of what your character wants and fears, and I'll build moments that actually engage with that. This isn't a table for murder hobos looking for an excuse to swing first — I want people who lean into who their character is, consistently, even when it's inconvenient. Combat is where I put a lot of my prep, but winning rarely just means reducing the enemy to zero HP. I like building encounters around real objectives and alternate win conditions — hold the line long enough for the ritual to break, choose which threat to face knowing you can't stop both — so a fight forces a decision, not just a dice roll. I can run this on Foundry with full 3D battle maps and digital minis, so those choices are ones you can actually see laid out in front of you.

Paul's ideal table

I want to foster a collaborative and diverse table. People with different backgrounds, play styles, ethnicities, and genders are encouraged to join! We are all working together to tell the story. Which is why I enjoy Daggerheart so much. I land somewhere in the middle of Rules as Written(RAW) and rule of cool. I do home-brew some things and want my players want to explore our story in way that feels like fun for them and the table. the more inclusive the idea, the easier it is for me to say yes!
