About The Silent Bard

I have always had a love for sword and sorcery, and a compelling story. Since finally getting the chance to come to the table a couple of years ago, I have found my passion in play by posts. I love to meet new characters, weave worlds and tell tales, form bonds and offer difficult moral choices. I believe that play by post can offer a chance for real and meaningful role play between characters, and make TTRPGs accessible to those with a difficult schedule, or who are shy, or for any other reason are unable or reluctant to make a regular table - or for those who can and just need a daily fix to keep them going! I have run many play by posts, both short 6 week adventures and on going campaigns, and they are always a lot of fun. Everyone is welcome at my table so long as they are respectful to others. I love diving in with experienced players and guiding those who are new. I use Owlbear, tupperbox and avrae via Discord to provide the most immersive experience possible, and always work with my players to give them the most epic experience for their character in the setting.

I became a GM because

I love telling stories and weaving worlds. Nothing gives me greater joy than seeing players become invested in a story and other characters in the party. Providing others with memorable adventures, funny tales, exciting war stories and nail biting drama is an amazing feeling

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

Creative, Committed, Colourful

When I'm not running games I'm...

How The Silent Bard runs games

I'm all about the role play! I love nothing more than clever conversations and fostering the bonds between player characters. Combat is never entirely out of the question, but I like to reward players for finding other resolutions and for impressive RP. I use NPCs with their own stories, closely linked to the setting, able to have in depth conversations with PCs. I like to have a clear image in my head of the scene, the environment, what's going on, and incorporate that into how player actions play out, being as immersive as possible the world. Even in combat I encourage creative descriptions of actions taken and interaction between the characters. I adapt to include leads and motivation based on character backstories, and try to draw them in, invest them on a level that's more than simply getting paid to fulfill the quest.

I deal with rules issues by...

I am always open to listen to reasons why a player might interpret a rule a different way and approach this with an open mind. However, the final say remains with the DM.

My games focus on...

Storytelling, RP, the chance for players to really explore their characters and express themselves as much as they want

Rules are...

Respect everyone at the table No NSFW, gore, porn No PvP No racism/Homophobia/misogyny/sexism/hate speech/harassment Enjoy and have fun!

The Silent Bard's ideal table

My tables are relaxed, places where players can have fun going on an adventure with their characters. I encourage team work above the table and in game, and players who want to RP and include others, ask questions, form bonds with other PCs will fit in very well. Creativity and expression of character emotion are the threads which bind my tables together. It's all about the story, the journey, the losses as well as the wins.

I am for a vibe that's...

Relaxed, absorbed in the story, excited and active

I love it when a player

makes the effort to form bonds with characters. Asking questions, checking up on others during downtime, calling out during combat, encouraging words when healing or buffing. Equally, sass towards enemies on the battlefield is amazing!

My table is not the place for...

Metagaming, strict rules-lawyering, main character syndrome. sabotaging other PCs
