About The Salty Crow
I began playing Dungeons & Dragons (3.5e) in college around 2013 and transitioned to 5e in 2016 while serving in the Navy in Washington, D.C. In 2017, I began dabbling in Dungeon Mastering, and by 2020, I was DMing full-time. Over the past six years, I have managed multiple concurrent campaigns alongside various one-shots. Notably, I have led two full-length campaigns from level 1 to level 20, each spanning three to four years. During this time, I’ve had the pleasure of running games for players across the globe using Fantasy Grounds Unity and Discord. My world-building is deeply influenced by my background in history, which helps me create vibrant, grounded narratives. Recently, I’ve been developing an "Echo-punk" seafaring setting. My goal is always to craft a rich world where the players are the true protagonists of the story. Expect each session to begin with: “Ahoy, islanders! Welcome to the Shifting Seas.” And keep an eye out for my Discord tag: “The next Shift is approaching, Islander! Grab your gear and let’s set sail!”

I am passionate about world-building, from small towns with goblin problems to vast seafaring empires. I aim to craft intricate settings for players to immerse themselves in, interact with, and help shape through their own stories and actions.

How The Salty Crow runs games
I would describe my DMing style as a measured balance, aiming for a blend of roleplay, exploration, and combat. Depending on the group’s interests, one party might find themselves navigating the high seas to uncover ancient artifacts, while another might be busy wining and dining with the social elite or brokering peace between warring factions. My approach to the rules is similarly hybrid; when it comes to social interaction and creative problem-solving, I favor the "Rule of Cool" to reward narrative flair. However, during combat, I tend to stick closer to Rules as Written (RAW) to provide dynamic, scenarios where every victory feels genuinely earned. Above all, I strive to cultivate an inclusive table, believing that the diversity of my players makes the world more vibrant, much like the stories we tell together.
