About TheGothFather
I am an 'Old Skool' D&D Player, having bought my first 'Basic Set' (yes, the red one) back in 1984. Since then, I've continued to play sporadically over the years, however reengaged heavily into TTRPGing after the rise of Critical Role. I've played numerous games as both Player and DM, however am just now getting into it on a more 'Professional' level simply as a way to exercise my creative side and simply have fun! I look forward to having you join me on one of my adventures which will no doubt be chalk full of Pop Culture references and other delights along the way!

How TheGothFather runs games
I love all aspects of TTRPG play from visceral detailed imagery, varied voices and styles for NPCs as well as creating situational tension through the use of music and sound effects. I love telling stories with detailed backgrounds dotted with numerous hidden elements for players to find and explore; honestly, you could probably spend an entire session just checking out the town you may starting in and not be disappointed! After all, in my house our motto is, 'If is worth doing, it's worth overdoing!'. That said, here's a warning...if I say a session may go between 2 to 4 hours, plan on more. :) As for content, I enjoy challenging players with puzzles, creating exciting combat and encourage roleplay along the way! I am open to 'flavoring' elements, items or encounters to enhance your experience; for example, instead of having a 'Broom of Flying', you could have the 'Mary Poppin's Inspired Goth Umbrella of Flying'. Just know that if you choose something like this, I will call out that you would lose the use of one of your hands while wielding the Item as you would need to hold onto it to take advantage of the Item's attributes. I look to ensure a balanced experience as best I can. As for the rest, here we go: - I'm open to all people joining me on these adventures and LBGTQ+ friendly - You may roll via DND Beyond (via Roll20 Chrome Extension) or real dice; all I ask is that you be honest with the rolls - Respect people's boundaries I think that's it for now! I look forward to guiding you on your next adventure!

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...
...Martin Campbell, specifically 'Cast a Deadly Spell (1991)'.
Rules are...
...more like Guidelines. For example, I absolutely allow flanking for Advantage, Bonus Action to drink a Potion; if a Healing Potion, you may take an Action to gain the maximum amount of HP possible. These Homebrew Rules combined with RaW, give the Player flexibility to have a fulfilling experience.
I prep by
...spending way too many hours toiling away in the middle of the night to ensure a option-filled antics!
TheGothFather's ideal table
Players that embrace creativity, the Rule of Cool, and lean into RP will be rewarded! use vivid descriptors of how YOUR Character wields their Magic and Skills. Also, Dad jokes, 12-year-old humor, endless 80's Pop Culture references, annoying Soundboard audio clips and so forth. So, be warned.

I love it when a player
...describes their magic as creating a work of art.
I think metagaming...
...is awesome! If you want to recreate some fictional Character through careful manipulation of Species, Classes and Subclasses to achieve something like Hajime from Arifureta, go for it! For the record, my version is a Variant Human 20th-Level Artificer.
My table is not the place for...
...battle addicts. While combat is a part of my games, it is not the sole focus. I'd rather have 'The Mummy (1999)' vibes rather than 'Dunkirk', if that makes sense.
