About superskyflakes

My name is Andrew! I enjoy all sorts of games, having played tabletop games like Warhammer 40K for 3+ years, PC games like World of Warcraft for 20+ years, and most recently TTRPGs like Dungeons & Dragons as both a player in campaigns and a DM for a shared-world homebrew campaign. I lean heavy into roleplaying and world-building, and will construct scenarios that give players the option to use their words as much as their weapons to resolve an encounter. I use one-shots as an introduction to longer campaigns and short multi-session story arcs, depending on a player's interest and availability. The stories I like collaboratively telling have covered horror, political-thrillers, social unrest, world-ending conspiracies, light-hearted and nature-themed adventures, romance, bank heists, Indiana Jones-style adventures, and family dramas. I tend to inject a lot humor in my stories as well, especially to balance out the heavier material. I'm a big believer in telling stories that make an impact and come from the heart, and will always do my best to make sure each and every player is getting value out of the time they spend in my games. And just to address this now: I use AI for images and to help me organize the lore in my world. I do not use AI to write stories or make meaningful creative decisions in my games.

I became a GM because

I love world building and embodying many different types of characters. More importantly, I love sharing these stories with other folks.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I can sing? Don't dare me to add a musical number into a session because... I will.

When I'm not running games I'm...

Hanging out with my partner and senior tripod pup, playing PC games, or prepping for a session.

How superskyflakes runs games

I lean heavy into roleplaying and world-building, and will construct scenarios that give players the option to use their words as much as their weapons to resolve an encounter. That isn't to say that non-roleplayers won't have a good time, though. Some of my favorite experiences as a DM have been helping people open up and learn to roleplay on their own terms. And if it still isn't your thing, I'm more than happy to construct combat, puzzle, or exploration encounters that develop naturally within the story. I won't generate combat just for the sake of it, though. My homebrew world uses D&D 5.5e rules, mechanics, classes, backgrounds, and races. The world of Talamoor has its own factions, and custom lore that I can make available through the campaign's website, short stories, and in a lore handbook for inquiring players. I highly encourage players to write and contribute to the world and will work with them outside of sessions to develop their ideas.

superskyflakes's ideal table

Respectful players of all experience levels that are open to a variety of gameplay types will do best. I often partake in playful banter with my players. My table is lighthearted, even in the face of dramatic tension in the game. We're here to have fun, tell a compelling tale, and make some memories.
