About Justin

Hello! My name is Justin, and I’ve been running tabletop RPGs as a Game Master for nearly 15 years. I began hosting casual games with friends right after high school as a way for us to stay connected while starting our adult lives in college and work. RPGs quickly became a meaningful way for me to help people socialize, bond, and create unforgettable moments—and that passion has only grown. In recent years, I’ve stepped outside my comfort zone to Dungeon Master at events like Playthrough Gaming Convention in Raleigh, and I’m excited to continue expanding into new conventions and opportunities. When I’m not behind the GM screen, I’m diving into other fantasy and sci-fi worlds. I’m a huge fan of Brandon Sanderson, Star Trek, World of Warcraft, and Final Fantasy, so my imagination draws from a wide range of settings and inspirations that often spill into my sessions. I love crafting fun, lighthearted adventures that make players laugh, relax, and feel at home. My philosophy is simple: we’re here to share a great story, and my job is to make sure you leave with a smile and memorable moments you’ll want to tell your friends and coworkers about. Gaming should always be a fun, safe space, and I’m committed to creating the best possible experience for everyone who joins my table.

I got started GMing...

After high school when my friend group wanted to have an excuse to meet weekly. Since nobody else was interested in being the Dungeon Master, I took on the role and have been doing it for a very long tine.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

Pathfinder 2E, Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition, and Monster of the Week. Each game has it's depth and strengths, and I can spend hours building stories or characters to have a great time. If I want something simple, I can then pivot to Monter of the Week for some silly fun

My favorite books are

Mistborn: The Final Empire, The Last Guardian (World of Warcraft), The Giver, The Ryira Chronicles, Name of the Wind

How Justin runs games

I cater to helping onboard new players into the Table Top Roleplay scene, with fun, simple adventures to help teach and encourage those looking to start the hobby. When playing with experienced groups of adventurers, I cater to the needs of the table. If the group wants a silly, improved-filled adventure where every session is made up as the story goes, done! For those looking for a serious well well-thought-out world, I encourage world-building at the table to create interesting backdrops to explore.

I once ran a session...

that started as a premade adventure, but the players did not have fun so I pulled a full 180 and let them decide what they wanted to see in a campaign. Thanks to that desicion it bloomed into a 4 year campaign of action, adventure, laughs, and too many in jokes we still quote till this day

Rules are...

a system to guide players into fun experiences, but can be bent when needed. Sometimes a rule is not enjoyable, or just confusing and needs a few tweeks to really make an inpact. I agree that rules are around for reasons, but each table runs differently and it's ok to be rebellious and break a few!

I love it when a player

Thinks outside the box and breaks an encounter. This is the most rewarding feeling as a DM where I have to take a moment to think about how to improve such an action. This also makes for amazing stories for the player as they can brag about it for days to friends and fellow players.

I think it's a red flag when players...

start to force story lines onto other members of the party. It's ok to improv or suggest things that table members can adopt, but when you tell someone directly how to play it's an automatic warning from me as a Game Master to keep to their own characters. I have a low tolerance for backseat RP
