About Sara
My name is Sara R. (she/her) and I am a passionate storyteller and consumer of stories with a Bachelor's Degree in English and Spanish, as well as a freelance editing and writing career. I've been playing TTRPGs since 2018, so while roleplaying games passed me by in the early days of youth, they have brought incredible enrichment and fulfillment to my adult life. I began Storytelling for Vampire: The Masquerade 5th Edition in 2020, as I had enjoyed the lore far before I ever started playing the game! After crafting and running a unique chronicle, I realized how much I enjoyed the role of Storyteller and game master. Since then, I've run dozens (and played hundreds) of sessions, both in-person and online, of Vampire: The Masquerade, D&D 5E/5.5E and several indie RPG titles like Bluebeard's Bride. I also produced, directed, wrote and/or performed in over one hundred TTRPG actual play episodes on Twitch and YouTube. I'm inspired by film, television, video games, comic books, novels, poetry and anything that contains a story. Some of my favorite properties include Hades, The Locked Tomb series and The Witcher. I have special interests in improv comedy, psychological horror and dark fantasy. I describe my GMing style as descriptive, detailed and visceral, taking cues from the world of improv and entertainment. At my table, I pride myself on living in accordance with my values which include intersectionality, honesty, accountability and compassion. I make use of a variety of safety tools for the mental and emotional wellbeing of the table, including consent forms, X cards, and more. I strive to make everyone comfortable enough to explore heavy, emotional and sometimes dark themes through roleplaying, if that's what they desire.

How Sara runs games
Roleplaying is where I shine. I can do a variety of voices, accents and affectations and enjoy using physicality to embody the characters. I offer a visceral and descriptive style that is primarily theatre of the mind, though I do use Roll20 and other online tools to assist with play. Most of all, I love to give the player characters the spotlight, allowing them to explore their past, present and future throughout the adventure. Tailoring my campaign to fit the players is one of my favorite ways to create a TTRPG experience. I am not as much a war games and tactics GM, but I do enjoy using the full scope of game mechanics for cinematic combat, unique puzzles and social challenges.
