About Skye the Spellslinger

I've been playing and DM-ing DnD for over 5 years and have a passion for TTRPG's that I'd love to be able to share with others!

My favorite shows/movies are

Andor, The Magicians, and of course Arcane!

People are always surprised when I tell them

Boo!

When I'm not running games I'm...

overthinking everything

How Skye the Spellslinger runs games

My style of GM-ing revolves around tailoring the story and characters' arcs together, big or small, to encourage roleplay and engagement with each other. Combat I run is usually more Narrative focused taking into account the creatures motives along with how far they are willing to go / risk to achieve their goals.

I once ran a session...

with three direwolves... a bloodbath that taught me a lesson in the divine DM curse of rolling back to back natural 20s as well as the unlimited power of the action economy. Scary stuff.

Rules are...

Rules are what ground the characters in their world, what separates a commoner from a god, and what confuse me when I mess them up :P But they are also only guidelines and can be bent at times to fit the story! One could debate for hours on rules but ultimately its up to us to decide in game!

Skye the Spellslinger's ideal table

Players who are willing or wanting to get in character will feel right at home here, I keep a friendly open vibe encouraging everyone and giving them space and opportunity to play in their roles! New players should also rest assured that I will take the needed time to help them so we can all get the most out of the game, I have plenty of patience and love helping new people get into ttrpgs!

I love it when a player

becomes engaged with the story and enthusiastic about the game!

I think it's a red flag when players...

disrespect or don't take seriously the boundaries of others.

I think min/maxing...

is a really fun thought exercise and experiment, but isn't really the point of (most) TTRPG's, the character is more important than the numbers!
