About Sol

The world is a stage and men merely players! Greetings, warry travelers! My name is Erin Bonham, and I'm a Chicago based actor with extensive experience in theatre, film, directing, playwriting, Shakespeare, fight choreography, voice acting, and even mime! I'm the co-founder of a found-space theatre company called Cincinnati Changelings. I have also won several awards for my performance work, but most recently, receiving runner-up for "Best Performer in a Play" in the Broadway World Wide Awards for my theatrical work, and a film I starred is currently circulating amongst regional and national film festivals. In other words, when I'm not DMing, can you tell I main bard? Yet, no medium has ever gripped me like TTRPG's. I have a little under a decade of experience as Dungeon Master, and in that time I have been fortunate enough to contribute to some of the most engaging, heart-wrenching and empowering epic tales of all sorts of adventures. As an performer, I believe stories can change the world and I firmly believe TTRPG's is the stage on which these tales must be told! If have a story you are dying to tell, want to be totally immersed in a fantastical world like no other, and want to make a true impact, let's roll up a character. Reach out today!

When I'm not running games I'm...

when I'm not running games I am a working actor in Chicago! I'm pretty lucky to have won a couple of awards out here. After Death Do Us Part, a film I recently starred in, won awards at both the Chicago and Milwaukie Horror Film Festivals! If your interested in my work you can check out my website

How Sol runs games

Three words to describe my GMing style are immersive, player-focused and cinematic. I want to ensure that I am the best supporting actor to your starring role. My background as a performer makes roleplay and impactful story moments much stronger. I use a fair bit of homebrew. I set my games in a world I created known as Cassandrameda, which I've spent the last 7 years crafting. It's fit with a long history, pantheon, and even it's own solar system! (and over 7000 pages of lore...) Most importantly, I love working with players to craft a wider story for which they have a direct stake in. I find that marrying characters' backstories and storylines to the main plot allows players to feel more deeply invested in the tale at hand. If you have an idea, let's bring it to life. We're all artists, collaborating on a grander story greater than the some of our parts! I often opt for the rule of cool and the age-old idiom of fun trumps story trumps rules. If you can give me a compelling story-telling reason for why you think your character should do something or get something, I'll often let you have it. It's important to keep in mind that this is still a game we play to blow off steam and have fun! I also have several tools I use at my table to ensure everyone's comfort and safety. It's vital that everyone at the table feels supported. New Bees and Veterans alike are welcome with open arms! The only thing not tolerated at this table is intolerance! Ultimately, I encourage you to reach out. I'd love to hear about why you love TTRPGs and if there's anything I can do to richen and strengthen that love.

I prep by

I prep by getting to you and your character. The Great Brennan Lee Mulligan once said,"characters are translucent and not opaque - where they’re like stained glass. You, the person are the light behind the stained glass. And what the character is - it is always still you, but the colors and shape"

My games focus on...

Creativity, Storytelling, and Players.

When it comes to voices

I've got a wide array of accents and voices! I'm a vocally trained singer and I've even worked with dialect coaches to master some. If you'd like to hear a sample of one I can do, ask me about the time I played Fabian in Shakespeare's Twelfth Night!---
