About Soel

Good day! My name is Soel, an aspiring writer and comic artist. I first learned of D&D 8 years ago when I became fascinated with the Critical Role show, and ever since 5 years ago, I have been tipping my toes into the wonderful world of TTRPGs and Dungeons and Dragons as a forever Game Master. I take special pride in teaching and introducing new and interested players to the various rules and opportunities this wonderful hobby has to offer. With a degree in English Literature, I strive to create impactful and memorable stories that give my players a personalized experience and a thrilling adventure into the realms of fantasy and whimsy, as we create a story of our own. Player engagement and safety have always been, and to this day remain, two of my main priorities, as I hope to help you create a memory you can look back on fondly.

How Soel runs games

I place great emphasis on crafting narratives that revolve around each character, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to both shine and grow. Depending on player preferences, and while ensuring balance both for the game and between players, I often incorporate various homebrew options and possibilities tailored to my table’s specific play style into my games. My games rely heavily on roleplay and character moments (whether between players or between players and NPCs), with occasional meaningful moments of conflict and dynamic combat thrown into the mix. I also strongly applaud the creative use of abilities, powers, and even story details by players, whether in roleplay or combat.

My favorite trope is...

Found family and hope in an otherwise grim, uncaring world.

My games focus on...

Dramatic, character-driven roleplay with meaningful combat and clear stakes.

Rules are...

Suggestions to ensure everyone has a balanced and engaging experience. BUT, they can always be bent a little if everyone is onboard with it.

Soel's ideal table

Above all else, my table is always intended to be a safe space for those with a passion for storytelling. A place where players may gather and lose themselves in tales of tragedy and heroism, sorrow and joy, loss and hope. If high-stakes storytelling (where each choice feels meaningful and each character walks a path of growth or decline alongside their companions in a story shaped by our shared creativity and passion) appeals to you, then you will find yourself at home here.

I love it when a player

I love it when a player puts themselves in the shoes of their character. (making choices that feel impactful and meaningful regardless of concepts like winning or losing, in a story where a satisfying narrative is far more important than the ultimate outcome.)

I think metagaming...

Is a strange choice that will only serve to lessen the enjoyment everyone would have from the story. (when instead they can experience something familiar from a new angle and alongside new people.)

My table is not the place for...

Power gaming, min-maxing, or belittling the creativity and efforts of others.
