About Ayon

I have always been creative, even before joining the Dungeons & Dragons community. I first became involved with the game in 2019. During the COVID pandemic, I was let go from my customer service position but continued working as a caregiver. In my free time, I searched for something meaningful to engage with and soon discovered Westmarch-style D&D servers via discord. This opened the door to a surge of creative character ideas, and I quickly Fell in love with the game. By 2021, my love for storytelling and worldbuilding naturally led me to step into the role of Dungeon Master. My DMing style leans toward realism, with a strong focus on understanding the players and their characters in order to provide them with immersive, often horror-inspired experiences. Over time, I have created numerous homebrew one-shots and narrative-driven settings for Westmarch communities. For me, the greatest joy of GMing lies in crafting stories collaboratively with players, blending their creativity with mine to create unforgettable adventures.

I became a GM because

I was a player, and I loved the narrative, the story, and the description, and it was terrific. I wanted to recreate the same enjoyment I had as a player, and I wanted to be a GM to provide that same fun, adventure, and excitement.

I love horror movies, as I grew up watching films like Chucky, Scream, and Resident Evil. Currently, I've been watching the TV shows The Good Doctor and The Good Fight. Occasionally, I also watch anime such as Tougen Anki, DanDaDan, and Gachiakuta.

How Ayon runs games

From my gm style players will have a deeply immersive experience that combines roleplay, atmosphere, and meaningful consequences. I focus on emotional storytelling. All my sessions often evoke feelings of fear, tension, sadness, and even moments of personal triumph. These are not lighthearted adventures; my games are designed to challenge both characters and players, sometimes pushing them to the edge of their comfort zones. Roleplay is central to my style. Even during combat, encounters are not always resolved through violence. There are opportunities to negotiate, persuade, or work out solutions through discussions. I also enjoy incorporating unique mechanics that enhance immersion, such as the ability to craft magical items from the remains of defeated monsters, making the world feel tangible and lived-in. Player backstories are significant in my campaigns. Any NPCs or details you bring into your PC's backstory become real. Family, lovers, enemies, and allies become an active part of the world, and your actions as a player character have ripple effects on the broader story. Ultimately, I aim to create a living, breathing world where every choice carries weight and where courage, roleplay, and teamwork can shine just as much as combat skill.

Sometimes, rules are necessary; other times, they can be bent or even disregarded in favor of the story's impact. I love playing it by the rule of cool and twisting what an item or spell does with maximum flavor

When it comes to voices

I enjoy doing many different voices, from a seductive succubus to an old hag, then to an old gruff man or a child trying to find his cat. Voices are fun and provide some good immersive enjoyment in any campaign.

My table is designed for a mature group of players who are excited to roleplay and delve deeply into the world or module we’re exploring. Storytelling and character interaction are at the heart of any game I host. I love seeing players bring their characters to life and engage with the setting in creative ways, and having fun with each other and interacting with the world.

I love it when a player

I love it when players have a fantastic backstory, something I read before the first session. The connections they have to the world their character was born into, their family, and how they grew up. The ideas of NPCs in their backstory give me many ideas of what could happen in their adventure.

I think metagaming...

I am not a big fan of metagaming, and due to this, I change up what monsters can do and what they look like to put the players off their game.
