About Shana Mignon

Ello! I'm Shana, I go by Shanedore or "The DM" to the ones who know me best. I have been a DM for about 4 of the most chaotic, challenging, and rewarding years of my life. I pride myself in building safe, inclusive, and immersive stories. I commit to the bit, for lack of a better phrase, and prioritize the story and the enjoyment of my players more than mechanics. I may or may not fudge a roll to make a player's day, who's asking lol. My biggest goal with this is to enrich the lives of anyone with the courage to be vulnerable and join a table where no one knows what is going to happen. It is my greatest passion and joy.

People are always surprised when I tell them

People are always surprised when I tell them that I have a very corporate day job and spend my free time running games, building fantasy worlds, and creating elaborate experiences for people to get emotionally attached to fictional characters.

When I'm not running games I'm...

When I'm not running games I'm probably working my corporate job, planning my next campaign, building some kind of creative project, or finding an excuse to turn an ordinary night into an event. I spend my workday in spreadsheets and meetings and my free time making up reasons for dice rolling.

How Shana Mignon runs games

I run immersive story telling games. As a lover of fantasy and all things lore, a solid backstory is my go to for any campaign and character. I look for threads to pull in the best way, and build the story based on the character. They are the plot device. Every NPC interaction matters, every secret clue matters, and I want the world to feel as real as possible. Honestly, mechanics comes second to me and I will always choose what feels best to the table and the room. So what people can expect at my table is to escape reality and have a damn amazing time doing it.

Shana Mignon's ideal table

My ideal table is immersive, welcoming, a little chaotic, and full of personality. I want players to feel like they can show up as themselves, get weird with their characters, make stupid decisions, laugh their asses off, and still have those moments where the story suddenly hits them in the chest. I love fantasy that feels beautiful and lived in, but I also love when things get dark, creepy, dramatic, or completely unhinged. I want a table where roleplay matters, character backstories actually become part of the story, everyone gets a chance to shine, and the group feels like they are building something together instead of just playing through a module. I care a lot about atmosphere too, so expect music, interesting NPCs, immersive descriptions, ridiculous side characters, emotional moments, and the occasional situation where everyone at the table collectively realizes they have made a terrible decision. Most importantly, I want people to leave the session feeling like they actually went somewhere together and cannot wait to come back.
