Hello, there! Welcome to StartPlayingGames (SPG)! I am a fully-online-experienced Game Master. Whether it is a published module, custom adventure, or even a one-shot, I hope to create great memories and fun environments for you to play in. Thanks to SPG and players like you, I'm able to commit full attention to these games full-time! Every player must fill out a system-specific Google Form for us to better understand each other - those who join after Session 0 must also meet with me for a 30 min call to catch you up on the details of the game and table. This Google Form also takes care of the majority of Session 0 details. Once you read it through and fill it out, we will just go over character details, virtual tabletop, and similar details in Session 0 or our one on one. GM style

SESSION EXPECTATIONS: A 10 minute break about halfway through each Session. Sessions will average around 3 hours. Modules are customized to better fit both Player Characters and DM styles. The core experience of the adventure will be utilized and familiar feeling, but not identical to the books. Most Sessions have at least 1 battle, occasionally 1 big combat will dominate our time. But I follow the players. If role-play and exploration is the theme for the day, we'll follow that! For Dungeons and Dragons, I bring high quality, immersive maps (non-animated) for the majority of situations and an appropriate amount for other TTRPGs that are less reliant on battlemaps. A soundboard for fun effects, music to match the mood, and a fair amount of voice acting for NPCs. For most campaigns, a minimum of 4 players is required to launch Session 0. This helps guarantee a group dynamic and longevity of the group. Additionally, 1 or 2 players on a campaign night is not enough to justify the time, effort, and resources to run a normal session, and valuable players are absent - those sessions will either be canceled or one-shots. GAME MASTER EXPERIENCE/STYLE: I run combat-heavy Campaigns! Clever ideas, creative solutions, and battle tactics are going to help you and are welcomed. Even with this in mind, I like to see Characters survive to tell the tale, but death is always possible! (Have a back-up Character!) A Google Form must be filled out first to enhance understanding between player and DM, as well as better filtering to ensure a good fit to the existing players. All online-based experience. I am comfortable with a camera, digital dice, online Character Sheets, and other online tools such as soundboard, immersive music, and tech support. My main Virtual Table Top (VTT) of choice is Above VTT for its direct link to D&D Beyond and it's simple and easy to use interface for players and quality of life tools as a DM. I do not often have animated maps, but I do often have beautiful maps regardless and a variety of tokens to keep things fresh. StartPlayingGames policy is 24 hours ahead of time to Skip a session. You will be charged if you are unable to attend within 24 hours, typically. Communicate with me on last minute situations, hard cut off at 2 hours prior to game. After the first month, if your attendance starts to drop below 75%, we will discuss your situation and may excuse you from the game until you are able to become more consistent. Beginner-friendly and Veteran-welcoming ONLINE TOOLS: ✅ Dungeons and Dragons: Above VTT for maps, tokens, and character sheets. ✅ Dungeons and Dragons: DnDBeyond for Character Sheets and dice rolling (All players and I roll digital, public dice) ✅ Discord for both the adventure-exclusive community and a larger community of all my primary players. Music and Ambience is also played through Discord through a bot that you can adjust volume of. Discord is the best way to communicate with me, once a player. Camera is optional, but recommended, I use one myself. ✅ Google Document with additional info, Character notes, and session recaps. ✅Other Games: Roll20 for maps, tokens, and character sheets.
