About Ruairi
I'm Ruairi, and I am utterly obsessed with Pirate Borg. I have slowly infected all of my friend group with it, and now I am taking this outrageously fun pirate lunacy to the interwebs! I run games for both adults and teenagers. If you're a parent, see more on this below. While I am currently obsessed with maritime madness, I started off with D&D which I still love, and I run in-person groups for both teenagers and adults. D&D is my go-to for long-term games. I love campaigns that start off with solid character creation, with all the players having backgrounds with strengths, weaknesses, and goals, so that the stories in the world tie into the players' experience as they move through it. . My GM style is simple - I go with the flow and work with what players are enjoying in the moment. If we only make it halfway through the planned content of a session because everyone is having fun RPing in a tavern that was just meant to kick off the adventure, then that's what we'll do. Whether we are exploring Faerûn and ridding it of evil from a player-run Bastion in D&D, or stealing yet another galleon from merchants in Pirate Borg, you can expect a high-agency table where your choices actively shape the world. Pull up a chair, grab your dice, and let's forge an unforgettable story together. == For Parents == I have youth training and background vetting through my Scout Leader role in Ireland. I run weekly Dungeons and Dragons sessions for teens in person. If you are interested in your kids playing Dungeons and Dragons online (or similar games), reach out to me via Direct Message and we'll get on a no-cost no-commitment call. I can also share feedback from other parents and provide my Child Safeguarding Statement.

How Ruairi runs games
Expect a table that is atmospheric and thrilling, but never takes itself too seriously to enjoy a good laugh. Roleplay and in-depth combat are typical in my games, as is a very high degree of player agency. I lean towards providing multiple directions that the players can go in, as opposed to focusing on one particular story or quest. If your crew of plundering pirates want to go off script and sail west until they find a new island, I am happy to accommodate that. My games usually have a healthy dose of humour and laughter - the Dark Caribbean is a grim and bleak place, but there's always room for fun on a pirate ship, and the best tabletop memories come from the unexpected and hilarious moments born from unlucky dice rolls and player wit and wisdom!

When it comes to voices
I go all in! Every NPC gets a unique voice. But don't worry if you aren't into doing voices, just use your own!
Ruairi's ideal table
My ideal table leans into the pirate life. They are not afraid to take risks in the name of having good fun.
