About Mo

I'm a UK based software developer and content creator. I've been playing D&D for over 20 years and DM'ing it for over 15 of those. I've also been been running Daggerheart since it's release and I'm a GM for multiple DH tables. I run games for people of all levels of TTRPG experience, but my speciality lies in introducing the game to people who have never played before or who have taken a break and want to get back into it again. I value inclusivity and strive to ensure everyone who wants to play can play, regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, or race. I know that for some people the world of TTRPGs can seem daunting or filled with gatekeeping personalities. I strive to make sure none of that is found at any table I run. If you'd like to see examples of my playstyle you can search for RollplayDungeon on Social media. There are livestreams and clips from livestreams across Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

How Mo runs games

I'm a huge fan of narrative driven roleplay. I love a backstory for every character, even the NPCs. I don't believe in bad dice rolls - the dice exist to unwrap the story and lead it to paths we cannot predict. I love to work with the players at the table to cultivate an adventure that makes people want to come back and keep playing because they are invested - because a part of themselves is in the story. It's not just something I've written and presented, but a narrative that we've created together. That being said, it's important to me to adhere to the needs of the players. If the players want something combat heavy then I'll run more combat sessions. If they want more RP time, then I'll cut back on the combat instead focusing on alternative methods for defeating an enemy. For me being a DM is a lot like being a DJ. I could play the music only I like, but then the dancefloor is empty. It's much more important to me to play music that the crowd enjoys and then I take great joy in watching the dancefloor full of people having fun.

If my games were Movies they'd be directed by...

Stanley Kubrick, Akira Kurosawa, John Hughes, David Fincher, and the Wayans Brothers - all rolled into one

Rules are...

guidelines for the most part. Much like with the Matrix, some can be bent, other can be broken -> provided it suits the narrative and everyone is having fun

When it comes to voices

I'll be the first to act the fool so everyone else feels comfortable to do whatever they want

Mo's ideal table

I'm very comfortable and happy running combat heavy encounters, however my personal joy lies in narrative and roleplay. When players give me a backstory, I will honour it. I like the players to feel involved in the creation of the story and the adventure, so the more they like to contribute, the better. And if they'd prefer to take a backseat to the story and enjoy the spectacle, that's absolutely fine. Not every player is the same and a mixed table makes for an interesting adventuring party.

My table is not the place for...

min/maxxing -> There is no "winning" in TTRPGs through building super powerful characters and high dice rolls - at least not at my table. A good story being told where everyone is having a great time is the only way to win
