About Rinny

I have been an avid fan of D&D and general collaborative roleplay for about 6 years now, primarily being a player across campaigns and one-shots while also having ran my own homebrew D&D campaign for a year + multiple one-shots across the D&D 5e, Wanderhome, and Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast systems. I tend to vary in the themes and scope of the games that I partake and run. Where some may involve grand tales of heroism and exploration or fighting off the horrors of world-ending darkness, I also adore more whimsical, lighthearted adventures that bring players together with a sense of companionship and hope in storytelling. As I endeavor to get back into the role of being a GM, I will be planning to run various one-shots for players on this platform. As a GM still in learning/training, these games will likely be free and ran for players who would like to partake for their own learning or simply enjoying the ride of collaborative storytelling together.

I got started GMing...

While having a background of fiction writing, solo storytelling did not have the collaboration I sought in creation. After starting D&D in 2019 and being encouraged by my own DM, I took the leap myself. Since then, I've found wonder in shared narratives and the magic of building worlds together.

My favorite system of all Time is

Although I have only had a few opportunities to run games for different tables, I have always adored the free-form RP and whimsy of Yazeba's Bed & Breakfast; truly feeling like you are living a Saturday cartoon with friends, where child-like imagination runs free.

How Rinny runs games

My personal GM interests for style tend to lean more toward roleplay-heavy games, with themes often varying on the system and intent. Wanderhome + Yazeba games tend to be ran with themes of whimsy, coziness, and humor. For games like these, the joy I find is fostering collective ownership of storytelling, finding a rhythm with each group I play that let's us push the story in directions we would have never expected as we let our imaginations run. Meanwhile, my D&D stories may involve more serious political intrigue, mystery, horror, and supernatural themes that lean more toward "save-the-world + call-to-action" heroic narratives, rather than being fully Grimdark-leaning. Even against rising odds or horrors, there is always room for warmth, laughter, companionship, and hope. I am a major fan of metaphysics, science-fiction/fantasy blends, and stories that may involve fantastical, alien settings that are unique. Some of my biggest inspirations for past and currently in-development games are the Elder Scrolls series (Morrowind + ESO), Remedy's Control, and the anime Natsume Yuujinchou.

I deal with rules issues by...

Rules can be necessary for games to keep things smooth, fair, or enjoyable, but I do not like to always be bogged down by them. In play, I like to quickly work with my table to find a suitable consensus that works best, being sure to circle back post-game to finalize decisions together as needed.

My games focus on...

My games tend to lean toward more role-play heavy, where combat that rewards creativity and tactics is still common, but not overly challenging. I also like to run dungeon crawls in my games, utilizing a mix of VTT maps and theater of the mind to facilitate exploration and narrative.

When it comes to voices

I want my table to feel comfortable and safe exploring voices for their characters that may not be their own or "the best," knowing that we can enjoy the joy of acting without judgement if we carry ourselves with respect.

Rinny's ideal table

I always endeavor to facilitate games where people can come and comfortably have fun together with friends new or old, aiming to always find a balance of narrative and playstyle that everyone enjoys. I want my players to feel like they have agency in any story and ample time to shine with their creativity as desired, where some of my greatest joys have been working together with my players to work out backstories or plan future character development, hearing their great ideas as they become more invested, and seeking suitable ways I can occasionally intertwine their backstory or goals with narrative for more involvement/connection.

I love it when a player
