About me

I have a little more than 10 years of experience as a game master! According to Roll20 I have spent over 5,000 Hours running games, building maps, assigning stats to tokens, working on stat sheets, and doing prep work. ~My games are always LGBTQ+ friendly :) ~I run DnD 5E, Pathfinder 1E, and sometimes DnD 3.5E. I've played in games in several other systems. I also run games for my friends in a system and setting I have lovingly built and updated for the better part of a decade. ~For my games, I like to make maps using Wonderdraft and Dungeondraft, NPC/ tokens using Heroforge and 2-Minute Tabletop, and any other visual aids we need using Krita. I will also make World Anvil articles to help my players immerse themselves in the setting. ~I use plenty of tone-setting music in the background [which my players are always free to mute]. ~As a GM I pride myself on being thoroughly prepared for as many directions as the players want to go in. I prepare for every session with loads of maps, notes, visual aids, NPC/Monster statistics, and other materials and research whenever necessary. But if my players want to do something I'm not prepared for I still have plenty of experience with improv to keep us going. ~Dice, numbers, and mechanics are fun. I try my best to have an exhaustive understanding of the rules of the system we are playing, with the books nearby for easy reference. But when we're playing TTRPGs we're here to roleplay. I try to maintain an immersive atmosphere for all my games and the mechanics exist to serve the roleplaying experience. ~I'm not new to game design. Before I was ever exposed to the internet or TTRPGs I started building a game system that I've lovingly labored over for at least 11 years, with thousands of pages of google docs, spreadsheets, and other documents for it. ~I'm not new to world building either. I got into game design because I was a huge fantasy novel nerd with a deep love for all things mystical and whimsical. I made multiple games to play through events in my own high fantasy setting. I've been running campaigns in this setting for my friends pretty consistently every week for about 8 years, maybe longer.

GM Style

I value roleplaying, immersive settings, compelling narratives, and crunchy gameplay in my games.

Been playing with him for a long time, almost 8 years now. Always open to letting the players get creative and go off a bit if sound in the games world. Very patient as a DM, explaining things I'm certain I've asked before to me multiple times. Very willing to work with the player if the player is willing to put in the time and effort.

I was a pretty inexperienced ttrpg player when I first played one of Rain’s games. It got me hooked. Rain brought the game alive in many ways from creative voices, detailed world building and character development, and overall fantastic sessions. As a noob, I had a lot of questions as I got my sea legs, and Rain was incredibly patient, kind, and creative building the experience around my comfort level. I would 100% book a session with Rain again and would strongly recommend him to others. Newcomers and seasoned players alike will find something to appreciate!

Rain is an incredible worldbuilder who develops living and breathing settings rife with intricate geographies, believable social institutions, and clearly defined conflicts that make for a well-paced, immersive, and utterly unique game experience. Rain's sessions enable a safe, inclusive, and introspective player experience without sacrificing the playful nature TTRPGs are about.

I have been playing in games run by Rain for years now, and his games are incredible. He creates an immersive roleplay experience using descriptions, dialogue, maps, music, and NPC mannerisms. Rain is an amazing worldbuilder and storyteller, and I always feel like our characters are making an impact on a living, breathing world. It is also clear that Rain cares about his players and player characters -- he will read everyone's backstory and take an interest in each character's arc throughout the campaign. This is combined with well-balanced and interesting combat encounters that advance the story. Rain is knowledgeable about game design and mechanics, and generally prefers rules-as-written in order to create a game that is fun, fair, and occasionally challenging for everyone at the table. For new players, Rain is very good at explaining how the game works, and he is always patient. He is a fantastic DM overall.

I have played TTRPGs with Rain as the GM for years, and he is amazing. Always uses voices when talking as NPCs, has music for any situation, and is always ready to answer any question whether it be about a certain NPC, the map layout, or if asked to further describe what something looks like. He is ready for any question or concern. The love and effort he puts into his work is astounding and admirable and really immerses the party into every situation. He is extremely flexible with any ideas, so long as it can be articulated. He's always there for help should you require it for anything and is a very supportive GM. You'll have a good time whether you want a roleplay or combat focused game, but in my opinion, a good time regardless.
