About QuestKernel
I’m a dedicated Dungeon Master with around two years of active DM experience, currently running multiple campaigns side by side across different systems and styles of play. I’ve had a lifelong love of D&D lore, fantasy worlds, monsters, gods, planes, heroes, villains, and epic adventure. I’ve also been an avid sci-fi and fantasy reader since childhood, so rich worlds, mystery, strange places, and memorable characters are a big part of what I bring to the table. My preferred platform is Foundry VTT, where I create immersive online games with maps, lighting, music, tokens, journals, automation, and atmosphere. Depending on the group, my games can feel tactical and dynamic, almost like a video game, or lean more into theatre of the mind, roleplay, dungeon crawls, exploration, and epic mystery. I run module-based adventures for D&D 5e 2024, Pathfinder 2e, and Starfinder 2e, adapting them to suit the party and make player choices matter. I won’t claim to know every rule by heart. What I do promise is careful preparation, fair rulings, a willingness to check rules when needed, and a focus on keeping the game moving so everyone has fun. When I'm not running games I'm...
Developing Apps and mods for Foundry vtt, reading up on pathfinder lore and trying to absorb new systems (to me) such as Draw steel, Conan, Savage worlds and Starfinder.
How QuestKernel runs games
My GM style is cinematic, flexible, and player-focused. I like sessions to feel alive, whether that means a tactical Foundry VTT battle with lighting, music, automation, and dramatic maps, or a looser theatre-of-the-mind scene driven by roleplay, mystery, and character choices. I enjoy a mix of strong story, meaningful exploration, dangerous combat, and memorable NPCs. Some sessions may be dungeon crawls full of traps and monsters; others may be investigation, travel, strange lore, moral choices, or big cinematic moments. I like players to feel that their decisions matter and that the world reacts to what they do. I tend to run module-based adventures, but I do not treat them as scripts. I adapt scenes, hooks, pacing, encounters, and side stories around the party so the campaign feels personal rather than just “book as written.” Combat in my games can be tactical and high-stakes, but I am not trying to beat the players. I want challenge, tension, teamwork, and exciting victories. I also value roleplay and will always make room for creative problem-solving. I do not claim to know every rule by heart. I aim for fair rulings, quick checks when needed, and keeping the game moving. The goal is an immersive, welcoming, fun table where players look forward to the next session.

My games focus on...
Weaving an epic story around the players and creating breathtaking moments with real consequences. My games are also highly visual with animated spells, attacks, sound effects, realistic vision, animated scenes and the occasional narrate video thrown in for good measure!
When it comes to voices
I give it a shot! I can't hold an accent for very long, so often the NPC will shift through several different nationalities before it ends up sounding like me again. :)
QuestKernel's ideal table
I like to think I run fun games, I lean heavily towards narration and epic scenes rather than stringent rule keeping and I definitely do not have all character classes and mechanics stored in memory! The vibe is relaxed or tense, it adapts to the player group and how serious or not they want to be. online, With the foundry fvtt system I am capable of running simple, dice rolls or heavily automated games that run more akin to a video game with story telling and epic visuals than a boardgame. I can adapt to the requirement. Equally I posses an abundance of tabletop accessories, terrain and other "cool" stuff to make any table a memorable experience IRL.

I love it when a player
Wants to do something outside of the box. " The dragonborn Paladin wants to jump from the 20 foot gangway he is on to cleave the zombie beneath him." "Brilliant! roll me a DEX save, you land well, roll the attack. Nice! That is max damage + 2 D6 momentum damage. you only take 1d6 fall damage."
I think min/maxing...
Is inevitable with experienced players and can be made fun. Always remember for every hexblade warlock/fighter, there can always be a standard mummy that has had its CR raised by 3-4 points and perhaps acquired some abilities from it's big Mummy lord brother...
My table is not the place for...
Hate speech, racism, player shaming, any kind of bullying, politics or outrageous expectations of your opinion to be accepted as truth by the whole. The Dungeon master is the world, not the enemy. I will listen to opinions and am happy to be questioned, but respect must run both directions.
