About Curtis
I'm just your average 30-something guy living out in the sticks with a love of stories and adventure. Whether you're looking to use new rules for your D&D games, learning to play tabletop RPGs, or just looking for a late-night one-shot, my services are open to run your sessions and roll some dice with friends and strangers alike! Ever since a friend let me read a 3rd Edition Monster Manual at summer camp, I've been captivated by D&D lore. I decided to share this passion by starting my own games, gathering friends and family to play with starter kits. Over time, I've explored settings like the Mists of Ravenloft and the Islands of Kozakura, learning from the characters and stories they presented. After years of experience, I am now here to help you bring your tale to life! I am curious about what you will bring to the table, and I will be more than happy to guide you into the world of TTRPGs! I offer a variety of discounts to players who purchase my services. These include "Half-Off Holidays", "BOGOHO Buddies", and "DnDate Nights". Check with me to qualify. Update: Now offering FREE first sessions!

How Curtis runs games
I LOVE roleplaying and exploration! I believe a world comes alive with intriguing characters and hidden messages, like a dragon's warning. I enjoy incorporating pop culture references and prefer creative storytelling over combat, but I keep combat simple and in character. I'm also flexible with game rules, open to negotiating actions, or introducing custom rules to enhance the experience. Simply describe what you want to do and we can figure out how to do it, if possible.

I prep by
making a backbone for what I want to work with and improvise the rest.
My games focus on...
exploration, storytelling, and creativity.
Rules are...
an important backbone to make a game, but can be just as flexible.
Curtis's ideal table
My tables are often roleplay heavy with lore hunting and exploration open. Many times, we're pretty chill with storytelling and the discussion of ideas. However, when it comes to battles, there are times when it can get difficult as I've had many near deaths and a few that resulted into getting new characters or having the luck of a few nearby NPCs who could help. My tables are good for anyone who wants to be creative or inventive with their characters. We're open to new rules to change things up and to allow new flavors to the game's rules or ways to survive beyond simply hitting a creature until it dies.

pop culture references and video games
I love it when a player
comes up with an amazing line, uses a way to use their action in combat, or reflavors something to make their character unique compared to what is presented in the books!
I think metagaming...
is good for testing scenarios, but takes the roleplaying and fantasy out of fantasy RPGs and just makes a game focused on "winning" based on prior knowledge.
