About Peter

Hey, I'm Peter (he/him). Community around roleplaying is a big part of my life and has nestled in my heart like a purring cat. Nothing beats finding new ways to play and people to play with. I'd be honoured if you'd like to join me on a leg of that journey. Near my home there's a game night. It's called the RPG Night Utrecht. It's filled with fantastic players, GMs and creators. Amongst them, I've had the joy of hosting and GMing for years now. Please do come and visit if you ever find the chance.

How Peter runs games

I make sure that players know about the session's intended content, aim, tone and subject matter, so that you know what to look forward to before you sign up, and so that the other players will be equally excited about the same thing you are. Each session's intent is unique, and we make it happen together. I restate our intent clearly at the start of the session, and explain how everyone can work together towards it. That way, the entire tabel becomes the co-authors of our shared experience. Then, we get to know eachother and plant an initial seed of trust and love that we'll grow as we play. Each session uses communication tools (a.k.a. safety tools) where this allows us to build the trust we need to fully dive in, knowing exactly how we'll resurface and how we can course-correct whenever needed. For those familiar; the ones I always use are C.A.T.S., lines and veils, X-Card, Open Door Policy and Stars and Wishes, or a version thereof catered to the session. Anyone can suggest tools, not just the GM. Let me know if there are any other tools you would like to see in place that allow you to bring your creativity to bear. During play, I direct play towards cinematic action, meaningful choices and heartfelt moments. I always reserve time for breaks during play and a cooldown after. The above supports us when we want to create meaningful moments, but also when we just want to bash some baddies.

Peter's ideal table

Players are given the keys to the car and I cheer them on as we joyride together. At my table, everyone has the opportunity to be an equal co-author of the narrative. In games with a GM, my role is asymmetrical to those of the rest, but no more important. I present a starting situation, and suggest one or two directions from there. But the session truly shines when it goes into a third direction that is the sum of all our creative effort during play, one which could not have come to pass with any other group of players, creating a shared experience that connects us personally. If that's what you're looking for too, You'll find a home at my table.
