About Rich
Welcome, come stay a while and listen! I am a long time gamemaster, and avid tabletop roleplay player. I have been running games for pretty much most of my life from ad hoc adventures in the park when I was a much younger for my friends, regular online sessions, to much grander in person immersive experiences. I always strive to foster a welcoming and safe space for all the people at my table, to allow all to enjoy their hobby. Game Philosophy: - Collaborative Story Telling - we are all here for the same reason, to tell amazing stories, including the gamemaster. - The world is a living one- I like to run games that are fully alive and that the characters are inhabiting, meaning that decisions have consequences, good or bad. - Rules are a framework for a game to enable great moments, if those rules need unique exceptions then so be it. - Player agency - my players are free to choose their own consequences as long as they do not take away from the others at the table. - Serious and Silly - I expect my players to take the story and characters seriously but that does not mean they can not be silly. Roleplay games are meant to be enjoyable, dumb jokes and comedy offers levity to the more serious notes in a story. Favourite Systems: - Dungeons and Dragons - Dark Matter - Call of Cthulhu - Pirate Borg - Alien RPG Thank you for reading this far, if any of this sounds like something you would enjoy then please check out my games or contact me.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Pirate Borg, because if you are on a desert island then tall tails of the high seas can only make things better. Mork Borg, because with that system you can do pretty much anything in any setting. Dark Matter, because nothing would beat looking up at the starts and imagining amazing adventures.
My favorite books are
Anything Terry Pratchett, however give me a Rincewind story and I am happy. Dan Abnett's amazing Eisenhorn Trilogy, followed by the Ravanor and Bequin trilogies. Andrzej Sapkowski's Witcher series.
When I'm not running games I'm...
spending time with my wife and two children playing board games and going on real world adventures.
How Rich runs games
I run my games with the collaborative story telling in mind regardless of the setting. You can expect moments of tension, seriousness interwoven with levity and light heartedness. I thrive on teaching game systems so if you are a complete beginner to roleplaying in general or to a specific game system you are welcome at my table, and I will make sure that you are integrated fully with the rest of the players regardless of experience level. I really appreciate a highly tactical combat but also will reward innovative and creative solutions to conflicts that might fall outside of the written rule set. You will always find a safe space to sit back and enjoy a session of entertainment. I often run with mature themes but will tailor the experience to any level of rating (I like to use the Movie rating system for easy reference)
Featured Prompts
I once ran a session...
completely in the dream of a character who's player could not make a session.
Rules are...
the framework and the structure to tell amazing stories and experience amazing moments, if these need to bent or broken to allow this then that is going to happen.
When it comes to voices
I do some, but they are not necessary for immersive roleplay, and they will often change.
Rich's ideal table
My ideal tables contains players that are enthusiastically and willingly engaging with the story and other player's characters. They will participate in roleplay while allowing others to take the spot light. My table should feel safe and comfortable, like sitting with old friends; serious moments should be woven with moments of humour and levity. If I am doing my job as a gamemaster perfectly then I should set up the world, lay down plot hooks and the players should drive the story forwards. From that point I should be informing the players how the world reacts to their actions.
Featured Prompts
I love it when a player
engages with another players backstory.
I think metagaming...
is not appropriate for my tables, player knowledge and character knowledge are key things to differentiate between and are a mark of a good roleplayer.
I think min/maxing...
is perfectly fine, if a player wants to play the fantasy of a powerful character then they should be allowed to.
