About Mika
I've been playing Pen&Paper since 2015 and GMing since about 2018. But storytelling has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I discovered Pen&Paper I quickly realized that DMing is THE creative output I didn't know I was made for. Building worlds, weaving plots, portraying memorable NPCs, and watching players change the story through their choices... just creating an amazing colletive story, is exactly what I thrive on... after all Pen&Paper is just a collective hallucination and improv theatre, is it not? :p Over the years I've run everything from classic high fantasy and gothic horror to sci-fi adventures. Star Wars, zombie apocylpses or a modern boarding school for kids with special abilities - my head is filled with ideas that long to be experienced and shaped through roleplay and shiny click-clacks! My passion for Pen&Paper truly has no off-switch. Writing 28 different letters filled with clues for a mystery? Oh yes. Drawing Maps and Characters? Yes. Running a One-Shot for a 10th birthday? Count me in. Spending hours perfecting dynamic lighting or creating playlists for every possible scene? My understanding of me-time. Thanks to my never ending Hyperfocus.

I ran my first game...
when covid hit and it was a Star Wars campaign. It was so much fun and I still think about the best plot twist I have pulled so far... I don't want to spoil it here, since I am hoping to bring it again... some day. Hehehe.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Usually prepping or daydreaming about them... or I'm LARPing... Though I should study for my University classes to become a High School Englisch, Philosophy and Religious Science teacher. But really DM prepping is my me-time.
How Mika runs games
My biggest goal as a GM is to make my players feel like their choices truly matter. I love games where clever ideas, emotional RP, and bold risks have meaningful consequences. If you surprise me with an unexpected plan, I'll surely reward that creativity instead of expecting you to go back onto some predetermined path. So expect character-driven stories, impactful plot twists, challenging but dynamic combat, and plenty of opportunities for RP. I love encounters that feel cinematic rather than repetitive. I aim for a healthy balance between RuleOfCool and consistent rules; between sandbox freedom and focussed story paths - always individually adapted to my players. Though what you'll always find in my games is a strong focus on immersion, meaningful consequences, and a living dynamic world. I love weaving in small details that attentive players can pick up on. (I really am a sucker for foreshadowing)

I once ran a session...
at a convention where I had 15 Minutes to come up with an idea, about 30 minutes to prep and then had to DM it. It was surprisingly fun, mostly because the players were amazing and did a lot with small inputs... but I still prefer taking my sweet time with preparing a story.
Mika's ideal table
In general? Players who love to play characters with flaws and weakness - hope and dreams - and preferences. Players that enjoy the little RP moments and not just sprinting from mission A to B. For me it is important that everyone is there to escape reality for a while, meet new people and communicates wishes, preferences and concerns openly. But it always depends on what kind of story we are running. I expect players to follow the vibe of the genre and to read the room. Whether you're a beginner or have been playing for longer than you can remember - you shall find your place in my adventures ^^

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
Correct answer: creating and playing complex characters with depth The answer I really want to include: F*ck around and find out
My table is not the place for...
Main Character Syndrom Solo Missions. Pen and Paper is a group-game. Everyone is going to have their spotlight-moments, so please don't try to do everything on your own or interrupt others... Be ready for team work and giving others their time to shine :)
