About Neolakia

Heyo, I'm Neo. Huge fan! Creative writer and aspiring narrative game designer, I've been rolling dice for over 6 years now and telling stories for even longer. I like to dive deep on what makes a character tick and explore different facets of world settings with others; discovering lore easter eggs is always a joy. I also love theorycrafting and figuring out ways to make stupid ideas work. I enjoy strategy and puzzles, and I love playing Codenames. In terms of games or systems, I mainly run D&D 5e and LANCER, along with homebrews for Pokemon Mystery Dungeon and League of Legends.

People are always surprised when I tell them

I'm blind in my right eye - I've got 50/50 vision!

When I'm not running games I'm...

gaming or reading. LoL and MC are my staples, with a smattering of single player or multiplayer party games. Still looking for that one MMO...

How Neolakia runs games

The players are the life of any story - they bring excitement and chaos, transforming a still world into a vibrant living one. Your actions and choices matter, a point that rings true both in game and out. Without the players, I simply control puppets on a string, but together, we can create something meaningful. I enjoy narratives that matter. When combat happens, it happens for a reason; the difficulty and frequency is completely up to you. Want to steal an item through trickery and deception? Sneak your way in and talk your way out! Or, you could take a more direct path and smash your way in, charging right through the front door. What ends up happening is a result of the choices you make, where every moment counts.

My games focus on...

narrative and choice. They tend to be roleplay heavy, and combat happens when the player's actions take them there. Every moment counts.

Rules are...

guidelines to follow - references to use when applicable, but able to be discarded when something else works better (Rule of Cool).

Neolakia's ideal table

Anyone can join my table with no prejudice or bias; the way you act is what determines if you're a good fit or not, and if you'd like to stay. I like to believe that everyone is capable of being a decent human being - they'll respect the others at the table, know what is and isn't appropriate given the setting, and just all around exercise common sense. In terms of the game, I hope they will put in reciprocal effort; I try my best to consistently deliver a good experience, and hope they will participate with enthusiasm as well. Being an able communicator is always a plus, but not required; I know it can be hard, but as long as you're putting in the effort, that's all I ask. Gameplay wise, they act accordingly to the game or setting they're playing in - able to work together, no metagaming, etc. I enjoy both roleplay and combat; min-maxing is fine, as long as it's not to the detriment of the game or others, ex. powergaming.
