About MrJPStilts
I’m a Storyteller who loves creating and sharing stories, collaborating with players to build incredible characters and worlds, and seeing how it all comes together. For me, TTRPGs are about getting away from the real world and just having fun with friends. I've been running games since 2017, including Dungeon World, Apocalypse World, Stars Without Number, Rogue Trader, Pathfinder 2e, Cypher System, Mörk Borg, and I love learning new systems! My style is more narrative-driven and improvisational—I prioritize an engaging story and player enjoyment over strict adherence to rules. My tables are respectful, engaging, and interactive, focusing on giving each character a chance to shine. I love teaching new players how to play, while also providing challenges for long-time players. New players can expect plenty of support and resources so they can focus on their character first and the rules second. If you don’t know everything about your character right away, that’s okay—we’ll make it up as we go. I’ve worked for years as a Manager of Learning and Development, onboarding adults to handle new jobs, so it’s second nature for me to welcome and train new players. I use Foundry VTT to run my games, taking advantage of its powerful modules to create a streamlined and immersive experience. Every game starts with a session zero, where we’ll set expectations, review rules, and discuss any safety tools that players may want. I also check in privately with players to ensure everyone is comfortable and having fun. I’ve been told I have a great storytelling voice, and I love running combat that is quick, exciting, and keeps everyone involved. As a teacher, I help each player learn at their own pace, engage virtually with ease, and handle any difficulties between adults smoothly. At the end of the day, my focus is always on making sure we all have a great time together.

I got started GMing...
Because my friends were getting burned out of running tables themselves, and I had no interest in DnD, but did have interest in other systems. So I took the head of the table and lead us through many different systems.
My favorite system of all Time is
City of Mist, it has been the most cinematic system I have run. All of the characters, Avatars and dangers are so fun to run and the narratives are so smooth.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Teaching, Playing with my sons and enjoying the outdoors with my wife and dog.
How MrJPStilts runs games
Character Focused, the more I understand about your character the more the story grows with them. The world is alive, the characters impact the world and the world responds. Players should expect a decent amount of roleplaying, tactical combat, and exploring the world in a way they prefer.

I prep by
a checklist. Review my notes from last session, review the PC's current goals, review the enemies current goals, and gather the quick rules I may need for quick access. Most of my session are improved so I make sure I have easy access to the details, rules or context needed in play.
Rules are...
Guidelines to align our expectations, but flexible when they slow down the fun. "We all have fun" is the only rule with no flexibility.
When it comes to voices
I do my best, if a voice makes an NPC come alive I will do one, it may be simple, and sometime silly but the goal it to make the session more engaging and enjoyable.
