I became a GM because

I have a creative itch that TTRPG's continue to scratch. Looking for like minded individuals to tell stories with.

My favorite shows/movies are

Gladiator, best movie of all time. Shows, I love all sorts, Stranger Things, GoT, Severance, The Boys, Invincible. Love reading fantasy (or Romantasy).

When I'm not running games I'm...

playing in games. Playing in games allows me to understand the needs and wants from a players side, and to learn each side of the collaborative story telling.

How Austin Griffin runs games

Through PbP I enjoy deep RP to get to know the heart of every character. I enjoy giving the tools to the players to be able to dive as deep into their characters as possible, giving outlets such as seperate backstory/1-1 channels with others PC's or NPC's. I've run both full homebrew and prepared modules but always allow for the PCs to shape the adventures around their characters.

My games focus on...

the players. They're the heroes... or villains, of the stories. They steer the ship with their own player agency and the story morphs around their decisions. I try to avoid railroads wherever I can.

Rules are...

guidelines. If a PC can think of an inventive way to use a spell or ability that might end combat or skip it entirely, then the rule of cool always wins out. While still leaning towards the rules to ensure any particular PC is not abusing rules for their favor.

Austin Griffin's ideal table

Player lead tables. Looking for individuals who love RP, in a PbP specific campaign they tend to lean into RP. Min/Maxing PCs is completely fine, as long as the character sheet and the RP synergize together. I encourage character flaws... Nat 1's tell better stories that Nat 20's.

I love it when a player

sees an adventure hook and bites down on it. Leaning into what their character would be, not muddying the decisions with above table knowledge.

I think min/maxing...

absolutely has a place. Some of the best characters in fiction are min/maxed. From an RP perspective, these PCs need to be ready to lean into the min as much as the max.
