Matt's an amazing GM, anyone would be lucky to play in one of his games. He's deeply creative and a very proficient storyteller. The worlds he creates are rich in content, but his stories are primarily character-driven (similar to Critical Role or Dimension20) both in content and direction. At no point in any of my games with Matt have I felt that our party has been railroaded into any scenario; he is an excellent improviser and very capable at adapting his story to the players' actions. While the combat encounters he runs are dynamic and interesting, I would say the Matt's greatest strength as a GM is his ability to facilitate roleplay; if that's your favorite aspect of TTRPGs, I promise you've found your GM. If you struggle with character creation, Matt will work with you to create an interesting, multi-dimensional character, but if you already have ideas in mind he does an amazing job of adapting his story to fit your concept For example, he low-magic campaign similar to Game of Thrones, but I wanted to be a wizard, so he developed backstory for my character that involved a horrible war that required a reclusive sect of wizards to impart their knowledge on a select few, my character included, in order to defeat the great evil. He supplies players with handouts before Session 1 that introduce them to the world and any notable NPC's, POI's, or general information their character would know about the world. While playing, Matt will often play music to help set the scene (much of which he produces himself so it's tailored to the story). This and other handouts he provides like news articles, documents, letters, and NPC portraits help to further immerse the player in the world and the tale everyone is helping to create. Matt plays D&D and other TTRPG's like collaborative story engines, and works hard to make it easy for his players to do the same. The result is always an engaging tale that feels personal and unique to your party.

It was my first time playing DND and Matt made the game feel very immersive and fun despite my initial misgivings about the concept. At some point I forgot about my biases while playing and he did a great job making sure everyone had a hand at shaping the direction of the story. The story itself was a good initial starting point into the genre, and he had a great sense of the game's direction and knew exactly how to tailor the story in a fun and thought-provoking direction that kept everyone entertained.

Incredibly detailed and creative story teller. Has the ability to improvise multiple voices for npc's while making each one feel unique as characters. Makes players feel welcome and is willing to help with any questions or ideas you have for your character or flow of the story. Definitely a good DM for experienced players or new players who want to get into the game and have many questions.

Matt is an experienced, passionate, and invested GM who can run any campaign - from a vanilla ruleset with beginners to a challenging homebrew with lifelong players. He prepares diligently before every session and substantially before the start of new campaigns, ensuring that players are on the right track for meaningful character development, high-stakes mysteries, and profound payoffs. Matt is also an approachable, inclusive, and empathetic GM. He makes sure that all players get their moments, works with your needs, and prioritizes everyone having a good time. Matt has helped me grow as a D&D player dramatically over the years, and authored and navigated story moments that I will remember for a lifetime.

Matt is an excellent GM that provides an incredible experience for beginners and experienced players alike. He creates worlds that are well developed and tie in with each character’s individual arc, while also being flexible and taking the game in the direction of the players. His use of music and digital props, such as letters, posters, and newspaper articles, enhance the overall experience and help immerse you in the world.

Something I love about Matt’s style is that no matter how much or how little background he gets from his PC’s, he always finds a way to fit them into the narrative.
