About Mithril Forge

Hello! I’m Colton, a 32-year-old electrician by day and a passionate DM by night. My family, consisting of two dogs, two guinea pigs, and a parrot, loves to listen from the other room as I weave my stories. I co-founded Mithril Forge Creations, a vibrant D&D community, with the help of my wonderful wife. I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons for nearly three years and DMing for about 2.5 years. My journey began when friends encouraged me to play, and I quickly fell in love with the game. After learning to DM for another group, we created amazing stories across three flourishing campaigns. I run D&D 5e, utilizing both the 2014 and 2024 editions. Over the last two years, I've been managing three campaigns simultaneously, though one recently experienced a total party kill (TPK), so I’m currently focusing on two bi-weekly sessions. All my campaigns are set in my homebrew world, crafted with input from my wife and the community. My DMing style emphasizes a balanced mix of exploration, puzzles, and role-playing, ensuring dynamic character interactions and engaging combat. I believe role-playing enriches every session, whether during intense battles or social dilemmas.

How Mithril Forge runs games

My GM style is influenced by what I love most about being a DM: witnessing the story come to life as players make choices that shape the world around them. I have a deep passion for storytelling, and I find that DMing is a thrilling way to experience it firsthand. I primarily focus on fantasy themes, drawing inspiration from works like "The Lord of the Rings" and "Eragon." While I appreciate science fiction, my heart truly lies in fantasy. In my game sessions, players can expect a fun and engaging atmosphere. I take the story seriously when the tone calls for it—especially during emotional role-playing moments—while also encouraging humor and light-heartedness throughout our adventures. We’re all here to enjoy ourselves and create lasting memories, so expect plenty of laughs, jokes, corny lines, and maybe even a box of Kleenex for those heart-wrenching story moments. I may not be an artist with words, but my love and passion for the game shine through in every session I run. I look forward to sharing this passion for role-playing games and creating unforgettable adventures together!

My games focus on...

All aspects but I feel I tend to lean to combat a bit. I’m a big believer or doing my best to keep RP going during combat instead of devolving into just a dice rolling simulator. But combat is big for me, I can’t go more then say 5 sessions without some kind of combat.

When it comes to voices

I love hearing them! And I wish I could do them but sadly I can’t. Maybe one day, on the way to work I catch myself practicing them. But it’s still hard for me. Regardless of how good someone does or doesn’t think their voice is for a character I still love hearing them.

Mithril Forge's ideal table

What’s my table like, and what kind of players would fit best at my table? Well my tables is usually full of fun but also moments of seriousness. We are there to have a blast and make memories and perhaps friends along the way. The destination of the story is good, but the journey is better. So players that can enjoy the whole adventure. Players that can have a good time but also realize the emotions of their PCs in certain moments are perfect for my table. I’m new player friendly, and I’m not a voice actor so don’t expect you to be one. This is ultimately a place to have fun! And if that’s what you want to do, then come join me cuz you’d be a good fit.

I love it when a player

Really gets in character, really connects and makes decisions the characters would make. Not the kind just to derail the campaign, but when a player makes a genuine character that tackles moral dilemmas and emotional struggles and you can see the character growth from it. Love those times .
