About Millie Odegard
I'm Millie, and I've always been obsessed with stories. Storytelling is an essential part of what it means to be human. The tales we tell help us overcome the trials of everyday life regardless of format, but I do believe there's something truly special about tabletop role-playing games. When we get to immerse ourselves and live though meaningful stories with other people magic happens. I've been playing TTRPGs for over a decade, and have been GM-ing for 6 years. It's been a wonderful journey so far, and I know I'll be running games for as long as I'm still able to. You'll absolutely find me at the elder centre in 50 years yelling for my fellow patients to roll initiative. I'm also an occasional content creator and writer. I have a healthy appetite for learning new things about the world, but especially the more strange, spooky and morbid. And yes, I have been accused of being a vampire. I don't dignify those accusations with a response, but if they concern you, you can always invite me into your home for a chat. As of right now, my main games are D&D5e, and some occasional Call of Cthulhu. I'm a new-ish fan of OSRs, and have run Mörk Borg and Death in Space. I'm also looking to expand into running Vampire the Masquerade regularly! Other games I'm hoping to run are: Kids on Bikes, Delta Green, Blades in the Dark, Cyberpunk Red, Thirsty Sword Lesbians, Mothership... and the list just goes on... and on. You know how it is.

I became a GM because
It was inevitable, really. As soon as I got hooked on TTRPGs I knew I would end up in the GM seat, and I love it here.
My favorite shows/movies are
Shows: Andor, The Good Place, Blue Eye Samurai, Archer, any Mike Flanagan horror series, Over the Garden Wall, and many more. Movies: Puss in Boots: the Last Wish (I'm its number 1 fan), Alien, and I still think about the Banshees of Inisherin every now and then.
When I'm not running games I'm...
Cooking, reading, playing video games, pole dancing, occasionally making music and constantly writing away at first drafts of books, poetry and short stories. I scheme, I plot, I plan. I hang out with friends and I do crafts sometimes. Not the witch kind. At least not yet.
How Millie Odegard runs games
I'm here to be my players' biggest cheerleader. The best games happen when everyone at the table feels seen, supported and safe. I never skip session 0, or other safety tools! 🖤 I gravitate toward running character-driven games with plenty of opportunities for meaningful, memorable role-play. I want to know what makes your character tick: their greatest joys, their deepest fears, and use it all against them. Lovingly. For character growth. 🖤 I value the choices my players make, and I'm always looking for ways to set off ripple effects. You can and will influence the world in unexpected ways. 🖤 I adore diving into interpersonal drama, social intrigue or politics, and populate my campaigns with complex and dynamic NPCs who can grow into your character's best friend, staunchest ally, fiercest rival, truest love... or worst enemy. Which one is up to you. 🖤 I love worldbuilding, not only on my own, but also collaboratively with my players. Some of the greatest parts of my worlds have been made through teamwork. 🖤 For games like D&D, combat is also important. I don't tend to run huge combats every session, but when I do I try to make it special. Whether I run a module or a homebrew campaign, I always make my own battle-maps. 🖤 I'm a big fan of rule of cool, provided you can make a good argument for why your totally-not-crazy idea should work. I always tell my players, "Convince me!" All levels of experience welcome! If you're new to a system, I'll teach you. If we're all new to a system, we'll learn together.

Rules are...
There to guide us, but not to tie us down. Rules are like a well-trodden path, they're safe and they tend get you where you need to go. I like to depart from that path and go into the wild woods when the story demands it, but I always return after.
Millie Odegard's ideal table
The tone of my games leans more toward drama than comedy, but there's always plenty of laughter to go around. I love players who: 🖤 Want to explore their character deeply. 🖤 Are curious about the other PCs, the NPCs, and the world around them. 🖤 Support everyone at the table, and enable everyone else's moments as much as their own. 🖤 Are brave enough to take big swings, and accept the consequences, good or bad. 🖤 Pay attention, and engage and invest in the story (NOTETAKERS, I LOVE YOU FOREVER AND ALWAYS). 🖤 Understand that failure can be just as interesting as success. 🖤 Know when to joke and when to get serious. 🖤 Have a deep love and passion for TTRPGs.

I think min/maxing...
Sometimes gets an unfair reputation, but it all depends on motivation. Are you building an optimised character to steal the spotlight and "win" the game? I'm not the GM for you. Are you building an optimised character to be a good team player and help carry your share of the burden? Come on in!
My table is not the place for...
People who don't enjoy putting in a little effort. I think when players choose to actively engage with and invest in a game they get exponential returns of fun for that work!
