About Miguel
Hi I'm Miguel! I'm a college graduate with a degree in film studies and a double minor in creative writing and in religion/philosophy studies. I love roleplaying games; they're one of my greatest creative outlets these days. And so, here I am. I love reading/listening to audiobooks, watching movies, playing video games and just in general consuming media. My favorite video games are Disco Elysium, Elden Ring, and Resident Evil 7, my favorite movie is Parasite directed by Bong Joon Ho, and my favorite book is The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman. I've been playing dungeons and dragons since I was 14, so close to ten years now! And I started GMing since before Covid. Suffice it to say I have improved A LOT since then. I've only recently just felt confident enough to really put myself out there to see if I can enjoy this passion of mine while also getting a little money on the side.

How Miguel runs games
I love creating big story moments and cinematic sequences in my games. Whether that be through powerful roleplay moments, unique and interesting combats that leverage the mechanics to propel the action or whatever else I can conceive of, while also keeping my players on their toes. I would say I much prefer a structured narrative game, where the players are heroes with a big overarching goal to complete and generally go where the story dictates. However, that is not to say I like keeping my players on the rails completely. I love putting players in open ended scenarios where it's up to them how they want to tackle an issue, and I love it when players surprise me with their choices to keep ME on my toes. So, while point A and Point B are set in mind, the line in between to get there can be as straight or as squiggly as my players want. I also like homebrewing magic items, potions and other stuff to make the world feel more unique and exciting. Cause at the end of the day we all love loot, and a sword that can turn the area invisible and teleport around is much cooler than just a plain +2 to attack and damage rolls. Additionally, while my campaigns tend to be generally serious, I can't help myself but get silly and crack jokes from time to time. Most importantly though, I play without the use of any generative AI tools. Picking art and maps and music from online artists personally, and doing all my writing straight from the dome.
Miguel's ideal table
I love players who get just as invested in my world and the adventure as I do. So, make a character that's unique to the world, has tie ins to NPCs or places or factions! Take notes when I talk about the lore of a place, or about how magic works, it may just come up later in an important way. Either way the most important thing for me is that you're always excited to come to the table ready to play. Whether that's in a tense roleplay moment between players, in a big epic combat session with the Big Bad of the arc. Or even just a chill session talking with NPCs, going shopping and figuring out what to do next.
