About Andrew, God of Waffles

Greetings, salutations, and all other forms of saying hello! I'm known as Andrew, Midgard, Waffle God, and many other names I've picked up throughout my life. I've been playing DnD since early 2021 as a player, and a GM. I joined StartPlaying many moons ago to get away from the "forever DM" curse, so I understand what it's like to be on your end of things. My goal is to provide quality online games that'll entertain everyone at the table.

I became a GM because

my friends wanted to play! After a couple oneshots, I was bestowed the role of "forever GM".

My favorite books are

the ranger's apprentice and brotherband chronicles series! I used to get in trouble in school because I was reading them instead of paying attention in class.

My favorite shows/movies are

DnD Honor Among Thieves, The Princess Bride, and Supernatural. If we're also including anime, though, you can add in Naruto, Demon Slayer, and Kaiju No. 8!

How Andrew, God of Waffles runs games

I strive for a mix of great RP and tactical combat that any mix of preferences would enjoy. I'm a relaxed, fairly rules as written GM. However, "rule of cool" will prevail when it makes sense for it to do so. I put a lot of effort into my campaigns. I create custom maps for encounters, implement popular homebrew rules, and create a variety of magic items, classes, abilities, feats, and much more for my players. So I hope to count you among those individuals soon!

I think metagaming...

is inevitable. When you've played enough DnD, you're going to remember a stat block or two. The important part is to not act on it! Besides, who knows if I changed some things within the stat block or not?

I think min/maxing...

is an acceptable play style! Personally, I enjoy playing highly optimized characters. Just don't let it get in the way of making fun characters!
