About M

Are you bored with conventional D&D? Do you want to try something other than Strahd and Phandelver? Greetings! I am Michael - a mature, reliable, and consistent GM with a deepth of experience in a wide variety of games. I provide well-developed, immersive worlds where players and I collaboratively spin yarns that are intriguing, exciting, and (most importantly) fun! Here is some information about me: * Began playing and GMing in the late 2000's * Experience with a wide variety of games from the traditional, such as D&D and Call of Cthulhu, to newer systems, such as Shadowrun and Eclipse Phase. * Brazilian Jujitsu Purple Belt and lifelong martial arts enthusiast. * Educated (B.Sc. Neuroscience; MLIS accredited by the American Library Association)

How M runs games

I am very much a Rule of Cool GM who prefers working collaboratively with players to create a fun and interesting story instead of railroading. I do use published adventures/monsters/etc. for inspiration but if I use the content in my games, it is usually modified. I am definitely not a professional voice actor, but I do create unique voices for major NPCs and such. Since games are catalogued by combat, puzzles, and role play, here is my play style for each: * Role play: on the surface, this is how you represent your character to the other players. But there is more to RP than that! Your character is an individual in the fantasy world, and I will put moral and pragmatic choices before your character that could affect the world. * Puzzles: Most people hate puzzles in RPGs because many GMs use the wrong kind of puzzles. My puzzles are baked into the narrative. Essentially, I create situations that PCs might consider problems, and as players, you can help your PCs solve the problems. This is much more engaging than being handed a puzzle toy irl. * Combat: A hard fought and well earned victory is one of the most satisfying feelings one can get in any TTRPG. Whether it is finally beating the BBEG at their own game, or somehow managing to un-summon Cthulhu, engaging combat is always preferable to simply just rolling dice at my table.
