About me

Howdy, everyone! You can call me Merlin, and I’m thrilled to host and play some D&D games with you! I’m always looking to expand into new things, and rather than just going on about what I’d do differently, I’d love to hear what you are interested in! This is a bit of a unique approach, but below, you’ll find synopses of a few homebrew worlds I’ve created. If none of these pique your interest, feel free to reach out—I’d be happy to set up something custom just for you! Genespire A network of kingdoms embroiled in political intrigue, Genespire unfolds in Seyra, a world steeped in both ancient and emerging magics. Here, castle-states clash amid a world that’s only recently opened up to them, as racism and life’s harsher realities weigh on all who inhabit it. Your characters are known as the Chosen, a group marked apart by mysterious towers called “Spires.” While some worship these Spires as gods, others dismiss them as metal giants with no purpose. Journey through this land to uncover the reason behind the Spires’ existence and the metallic wonders that loom across the landscape. Floria Ever wondered what life would be like in a noir fairytale setting, reminiscent of Telltale’s A Wolf Among Us? In Floria, you’ll explore a world filled with both fantastical and grimly dark reimaginings of classic characters. Delve into the secrets of New Fairyland, known to locals as “New Fairy,” where the shadow of the Overlords and the threat of the FableFade hang heavily over everyday life. Valora A vast realm made up of formerly peaceful, interconnected planes, Valora centers on a kingdom’s slow unraveling. Work with your party to uncover the mysteries behind the Culls—strange towers scattered across the world that generate dungeons within them. These ancient structures may hold the remnants of former gods, hinting at a divine history now lost to the people who call Valora home (with the exception of certain classes, of course!).

GM Style

I love to RP, and have plenty of time to hang out and do extra with people, I spend MUCH of my time establishing characters to make the world plenty of fun, and have been noted to carry a good handed experience, as such I try to push that forwards to all of my players! If you're interested in a possible future campaign reach out! I would appreciate it!

A Truly Superb DM Experience! I had an absolutely fantastic time, and I can confidently say this was a five-star experience! If you enjoy exploring complex, immersive worlds with lots of opportunities for roleplay, Merlin is the perfect DM for you. The world he created was rich and detailed but not overwhelming, with plenty of room for creative exploration and action. He also utilized music to add ambience to the adventure. One of the things I appreciated most was Merlin's flexibility in allowing players to interact with the world in unique and creative ways. For example, I was able to create an improvised poison grenade using a pneumatic pump and a giant spider's venom gland—such inventive solutions were always encouraged! I also had the chance to climb and ride on larger creatures to gain an advantage in combat, which added an exciting and strategic layer to the gameplay. What really stood out to me was how easily Merlin weaved my character's backstory into the campaign. I played a warforged named Argo, inspired by the Ship of Theseus. The philosophical question of identity and change was a core part of her character, and I was amazed at how seamlessly Merlin allowed me to explore that through in-game interactions. Whether it was replacing a wooden finger or marveling at land-dwelling creatures, each of my backstory beats was given meaningful attention. Merlin also excels in creating emotionally impactful moments. The ending of the one-shot was truly moving, leaving the other three players at a loss for words! As a frequent DM myself but first time player, I was impressed by how well Merlin managed to introduce me and the other new players to the rules and structure of the player side of the game. He made sure we felt confident and engaged, creating a welcoming and comfortable environment for all of us. In short, I cannot recommend Merlin highly enough. He’s a fantastic DM with a great balance of creativity, narrative depth, and technical skill. I truly enjoyed my time outside of the DM station, and I’m already looking forward to the next adventure with him!

Allowed me to fully play out my first Campaign, Merlin is not only handy with teaching people how to play and get invested within the game but create interesting stories with a group of people at a table. Everyone there has a part and he will help you dissect and search for yours then allow you to naturally fit that hole. He is an excellent Gamemaster, and I highly recommend him.

As a Dungeon Master and Player of Dungeons and Dragons for nearly 15 years, never have I run across a more perceptive, understanding, and willing person to carry on the story and entertain the players in ways that achieve compromise no matter the situation. Flawless to diffuse the Mary Sue and quick to define meaning to the McGuffin; nothing that Merlin does lacks meaning. I have gotten to see the days of planning behind each and every minute detail firsthand, to which I can only say, there is not another Dungeon Master on earth that will care for your character's development while also giving you room (and many times, REALLY good advice) to grow as a person. That's not to say they're all business though, as Merlin possesses a one of a kind humor that's made me wheeze cry from laughter more times than I can count. All in all and a TL;DR: Merlin is an impeccable Dungeon Master, Human (They may deny that one, don't press too hard), and Friend. I'd marry them for constant inspiration and D&D ideas, but they keep turning me down. Sadge. :)
