About Lorcaster

My name is Lorcaster and I've been hosting D&d for over 10 years. I specialize in 5e, homebrew, and bit of lancer. I enjoy creating new and exciting (and not at all RAI/RAW) encounters and mechanics inspired by anime and games I enjoy.

I got started GMing...

I got started playing Pathfinder back in high school. Unfortunately the person who hosted that game was a grognard and rather strict. Almost as rebellion I started hosting my own games with a higher focus on fun. But eventually in our friend group I became the only person hosting.

The three words my players would use to describe me are...

I'm referred to as an enabling GM . I let people get away with things My players have also described me as invested which is to say that I spend a lot of time trying to use their characters and stories in game I have also been referred to as considerate in the context of conflict and triggers .

When I'm not running games I'm...

I'm an amateur artist and an amateur game dev I also spend a lot of time watching anime and playing video games.

How Lorcaster runs games

My game master style is loose goofy and I like to try to keep things mechanically engaging with more unique mechanics. I run a lot of home brew and prefer to keep games flowing even if we aren't following the rules 100%. I am also a believer in the rule of cool and I do not believe the game is meant to be played rules as written.

I deal with rules issues by...

I prefer to play rules a little more loose and when issues come up I will generally just go with the easiest flow preserving answer or whatever sounds cooler. I almost always rule in favor of the players because I think being too harsh makes the game unfun.

My games focus on...

I like to focus my games on the characters and letting the players interact with both each other in the world as much as possible. Also I want my players to feel cool and feel like they are engaged and involved in the setting that they play in.

Lorcaster's ideal table

My table is inclusive and generally focused on fun easy going D&D. I have a lot of experience bringing new players into the hobby and balancing both new and old players in the same game. I tend to get a little goofy and I would like my players to be a little goofy too. I am not offended with memes being posted during session or people making jokes even if it cuts into dramatic tension.

I am for a vibe that's...

I like to maintain a chill hangout vibe for my sessions and only really like to force attention if something plot important or game deciding is taking place. That being said I do request players respect both me and the other players time when it comes to potential game side distractions.

I love it when a player

I get a lot of enjoyment out of watching players fully engage with each other through their characters and watching character chemistry come to life.

I think min/maxing...

I would prefer if players did not min Max at my table. I do not like adjusting the game to bid maxers only to force other players to change the way they play because of someone's decision. I don't think there's anything wrong with funny builds or unique strategies.
