About Lizz
I run playful games with occasional tactical combat, lots of roleplay, and meaningful consequences. We make stories together and it's a blast. Come for the shenanigans, stay for the friends. I'm a former high school literature/writing teacher and get a kick out of teaching new games to new friends. I'm also a community theater performer and costumer who loves a touch of character in my characters. Come play with me! Cover image credit: The Plundering of Basing House, Charles Landseer (1836)

I got started GMing...
for family, all the way down to my then-kindergartener. It was such a blast that I caught the DnD bug... which was a gateway to a more general TTRPG bug. There are so many cool games. I want to try them all.
My favorite books are
*the Discworld series by Pratchett - my favorites are the Witches books, but you can't go wrong with Guards series *Anne of Green Gables and that whole series *Anything by T Kingfisher or Naomi Novik - Nettle and Bone and Uprooted are my favorites
When I'm not running games I'm...
painting minis, sewing, writing, playing with my kids, running a girl scout troop, maybe performing in the community theater or making costumes for it.
How Lizz runs games
Story is king. I love getting to know the fun little people you've imagined and seeing what chaos they get into in the sandbox I've built. That means lots of roleplay and me occasionally asking you to describe what your character is thinking or feeling or what they want. I have NPCs that will love you and hate you and everything inbetween with personalities pulled from life and the unhinged amount of novels I read. I do character voices, but more importantly, I do characters. We do combat, and sometimes it's heroically challenging, and sometimes it's very dangerous. I will do my best to telegraph that to you when it's the case, so you can decide what level of peril you want your little darlings to face. If character death is a line for you, that's totally ok. We can have other consequences come into play instead. We can also have character death. Player-driven is the name of the game.

I deal with rules issues by...
checking it if it's an easy glance. If it's more complex, I typically rule to the player's benefit if I'm unsure and just look it up after session so we can clarify for next time. No need to stop the game for rules lawyering. That's not fun.
My favorite trope is...
the rogue with the heart of gold. Steal from the rich and give to the poor, and fall in love along the way. Gets me every time. I always love a Robin Hood.
My games focus on...
stories. We want to see the wild and wonderful journeys our heroes take - whether that's across a continent or an alignment. I love getting to the heart of what characters are feeling and why they do what they do. I also love a nice dramatic combat speech or emotional goodbye.
Lizz's ideal table
I like my stories to have elements of whimsy and players who are willing to lean into the silliness of voices and roleplay and also the heartache of actually caring what happens to our little pretend people. It's also important to me that my players feel safe letting themselves be vulnerable in that way, and I incorporate multiple safety strategies. My table is inclusive of all genders and identities, but as a woman, I do love not being the only woman at the table sometimes, so if you're a fellow girlie, come and play!

I love it when a player
does something wildly creative that solves a problem in a way I never would have expected. Charm someone, deceive someone, pour the oil on the floor, create a make-shift ladder of boxes - show me all the ways I never knew a puzzle could be solved.
