About Lindsey A.
Hi! I'm Lindsalot (aka Lindsey), and I'm going on 5+ years as a dungeon master for DnD 5e. My first campaign was a homebrewed Avatar the Last Airbender story that ran for most of the pandemic. After that, I started a new campaign inspired by Wrath of the Lich King from World of Warcraft. Now, Curse of Strahd is my current obsession, with a group that's 100% online. Away from the table, I daylight as a stage director and work part time as an educator for underpriveleged kids in the city. Creating a warm, welcoming environment is a huge priority for me, so get ready for a session built on equal parts fun and safety! I'm originally a California girly but I now live in NYC to be closer to the stage. Hobbies include writing YA novels and snuggling with my rescue dog Niles (an adorable black and white papillon-mix who's been known to make appearances during video sessions).

I got started GMing...
I got started GMing to survive the pandemic. With so many people cut off from socialization, it seemed like the perfect way to combine my love for theatre with a way to interact with others remotely. It soon became a lifelong passion, and ignited my love for writing.
My favorite books are
The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. A personal favorite is the Andy Serkis narrated audiobooks. You haven't fully experienced the series if you haven't heard it read out loud.
People are always surprised when I tell them
I'm a nerd. Honestly, maybe I don't look it given I love dressing girly, but I'm a huge fan of Star Trek, Lord of the Rings, Doctor Who, Critical Role, and all things theatre. Catch me nerding out about Liam O'Brien's improvisation skills any day of the week.
How Lindsey A. runs games
With me, you can expect detailed description and a commitment to immersive worldbuilding. I'm a writer and a lover of theatre, which means I live for crafting dramatic roleplaying scenes, where characters grapple to find the strength within themselves to do what's right (or wrong) or die trying. Expect NPC's with deep backstories, complex scenes packed with moral dilemmas, and a slew of epic and hero-worthy endings. I also make fun combat scenarios, so be prepared for high-stakes battles!

I once ran a session...
For Easter, where the characters drove go-karts in the Great Egg Derby and raced for the golden egg. They could sabotage one another's karts, form alliances, and min/max for ultimate speed. The final boss was a giant demon Easter bunny who wielded a giant carrot as a weapon.
My favorite trope is...
The Florence Nightengale with a 21st century twist. Give me a strong, independent woman kicking *ss while her lover is nursing their 0 HP. The "I got it, babe" mentality is great, particularly when it subverts expectations. But honestly, it works with any gender. Supportive partner roles are my jam.
Rules are...
Important until they aren't. I keep a tight ship, but the fun always comes first. If you come up with an awesome and creative idea that puts the rules at naught, I'm more than happy to let you give it a try. In a perfect world, rules add to the fun, rather than take away.
Lindsey A.'s ideal table
I prefer a table where players can have fun, but take the in-world stakes with the importance their characters would. Clear definition between role-playing moments and making jokes out of character are appreciated. I want to help you tell an awesome story, and to do that I welcome intense and dramatic scenes. Write that angsty backstory and play it to the fullest. Let's make a tale as epic as Lord of the Rings, and have as much fun playing it as we would hanging out with friends for game night. That said, I also welcome new players! If you don't feel comfortable breaking out the dramatic death scenes, no worries! As long as you're committed to trying, I can help you through it so that you can be the hero of your own epic and immersive journey.

I love it when a player
Pulls another character aside for a one-on-one chat, unprompted. Thoughtful fireside scenes while two of you are on watch make my heart so happy. Get to know one another. Dive into the circumstances and the stakes. It'll make the bonds even deeper and the heroic moments all the more epic.
My perfect party mix is
A group that wants to tell a story. And, if we have our fair share of combat, min/maxing, and wandering side quests, all the better! Whatever your favorite thing is, I will make sure we have it. All I ask is a group that cares about what's happening and engages with the world.
My table is not the place for...
Players who only want to fight. Don't worry, we'll have plenty of combat! But if finding creative solutions to problems is your thing, be it seducing the dragon or outsmarting the evil wizard in the tower, this is the table for you. Fights are just part of the storytelling, after all.
