About Kent

📝 About the GM Ever wanted to jump into a thrilling fantasy adventure — even if you've never rolled a d20 before? I’d love to bring you in. Since 2004, I’ve been weaving stories and rolling dice as a Dungeon Master, guiding players from first-level struggles to world-shaking triumphs. I thrive on crafting immersive, cinematic one-shots that give everyone a chance to shine. As an educator by trade, I’m comfortable helping new and veteran players alike — whether you’re fresh to the game or a seasoned explorer. I’ll walk you through character creation, mechanics, roleplay tips, and be your in-game “road sign” when things get chaotic. My goal? You feel confident, excited, and invested.

I became a GM because

I love being the primary world builder in the game. It's almost always my turn when we are rolling dice. I get to be fully involved the entire session. I also just love teaching people how to play and show them the ropes.

My favorite books are

Dragonlance, Lord of the Rings, Stormlight Archives

When I'm not running games I'm...

Being a girl Dad. Hiking, Mountain Biking, Camping, Kayaking, Taking photos, Trail Running, Drawing. (Or just thinking about D&D)

How Kent runs games

🌍 Immersive, custom homebrew worlds — Expect vivid settings crafted just for your table. I love weaving player backstories into the plot to create rich, multidimensional characters and narratives. 🎭 Narrative-first, roleplay-heavy — Our sessions focus on collaborative storytelling, meaningful choices, and memorable NPCs. Player voices are welcome (but never required). ✨ "Rule of Cool" always in effect — Dice and rules serve the story, not the other way around. If it’s fun, cool, and cinematic, let’s go for it. 🤝 Player-focused — I spotlight your characters, integrate your backstories, and adjust the tone and pace to fit your preferences. 🧠 Beginner-friendly and supportive — I genuinely enjoy helping new players learn the ropes—explaining mechanics clearly and creating a welcoming space to explore the world of TTRPGs. 🎁 Bonus perks — I create content with Wyvern Lair and use those proceeds to run giveaways and add fun extras for my players.

I deal with rules issues by...

We collectively decide what would be the best way to handle each one that arrises as necessary. (I'm easy to negotiate with)

My games focus on...

YOUR STORY. The game is about the players. Not the plot. The purpose of my games is driven by what kind of story you want to write.

Rules are...

"...more what you'd call "guidelines" than actual rules" Barbosa- Pirates of the Caribbean- The Curse of the Black Pearl I follow the rules as best we can for cohesiveness. But they are just tools to make cool stories.

Kent's ideal table

My ideal table is full of players who are here to have fun and stay engaged. We respect each other’s spotlight moments, celebrate each other’s victories, and keep the energy collaborative and positive. Whether you're an experienced player or brand new, you're welcome here — as long as you're willing to dive in and help make the session great for everyone. We favor cinematic storytelling over crunchy mechanics. You don’t need to act or perform, but a little imagination goes a long way. Instead of “I hit for 8 damage,” we love to hear, “I raise my warblade, shout my clan’s warcry, and slash at the dragon’s throat — 17 to hit, 8 damage!” This table thrives on immersion, creativity, and shared storytelling. If that sounds like your kind of vibe, you’ll fit right in.

I love it when a player

describes their actions in epic detail 👎 “I tell the guard we’re just travelers and ask to be let through.” 👍“I lower my hood, forcing a smile as I step forward. ‘We’re just humble travelers, friend — no troublemakers here, I promise.’ I glance at the others, hoping my voice doesn’t shake.”

I think min/maxing...

is a personal choice. I really value character weaknesses as much as their strengths. It makes for great stories. Frodo was strong willed, but physically diminutive. It makes for great story.

My table is not the place for...

Ego, or belittling player's race, faith, or personal views. We keep the language clean and family friendly.
