About JoshNoodleSoup

Discord: https://discord.gg/hPPpDjkzgA - 3000+ Hours of PF2E GMing Experience (and more if you count other systems) - Loves teaching new players! - Specializes in Pathfinder 2E - Specializes in running published Adventure Paths - Runs Games using FoundryVTT with Premium Modules - Creates personalized storylines with custom-quests and side-plots Greetings, adventurers! I am a Gamemaster with ten years of experience. My style is all about keeping the adventure fun, while also having a meaningful and character-driven story at the heart of it all. I love to teach new players. I have a deep passion for TTRPGs, Pathfinder 2E, and teaching. I used to be an ESL (English as a Second Language Teacher) in Taiwan. I like to run pre-written Pathfinder Adventure Paths that I have modified to include personal storylines for each player's character, ensuring that each PC has a chance to shine and grow. I believe that the story should revolve around the players, and as such, I encourage player input and creativity to make the campaign uniquely their own. My games are light-hearted and comedic, but with a dramatic heart that will keep you invested in the story. I believe in creating an environment where everyone is comfortable to role-play and enjoy themselves. So whether you are a veteran player or new to the game, I will make sure that you feel welcome and included. So if you are ready to embark on a thrilling adventure with a group of fun-loving individuals, look no further!

I got started GMing...

I started playing TTRPGs with DND 3rd edition. I dabbled in GMing, but become a forever GM (by choice) starting with 5th edition. While I GM other systems, on Startplaying I specialize in running PF2E, which I have been doing since its release in 2019.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

- Pathfinder 2E - FATE - Fantasy Flight Star Wars

My favorite shows/movies are

TV: - Better Call Saul - Bojack Horseman - Freaks and Geeks - Arrested Development Films: - Star Wars - Back to the Future - 12 Angry Men - The Matrix - Spirited Away

How JoshNoodleSoup runs games

- Patient and love teaching new players - PF2E system specialist on Startplaying (but I play a lot of systems at home) - Personalized storylines - Allows Improvization and freedom - Also, very knowledgable on RAW (Rules as Written) - I will read the table, and allow players to guide me in how RAW or "Rule of cool" they want - Character Voices (...Often Poorly)

I deal with rules issues by...

If I am unsure about the rules, I tend to let the player know: rule in the player's favor, let the player know I may not rule the same way next game, and then check the rules after the game to keep the game moving.

I prep by

On Startplaying I mainly run prewritten PF2E Adventure Paths: - Write a summary of last session. - Read all the scenes that players are going to run into. - Review NPC names and motivations. - Review creature abilities. - Review PCs backstory - Modify based on PC backstory, items, and abilities

Rules are...

good for Startplaying, since they set a baseline of expectations. I tend to start mostly RAW and may loosen after reading player consensus among the table. I don't like to jump into rule of cool immediately, until I get a read of what a full group enjoys when it comes to rules.

JoshNoodleSoup's ideal table

My ideal table is aligned in player desires. I have a great time running tables with strict rules, loose rules, RP heavy, combat heavy, sandbox, railroad, comedic, serious, and of completely different styles. More than myself preferring a single style, I prefer if players read the room and align themselves with each other.

I love it when a player

helps out other players, enjoys teamwork, and props up other player decisions in and out of combat.

I think it's a red flag when players...

seem uninterested in other PCs. Players should see each other as a team, and be invested in each other, not just themselves.

I think min/maxing...

is overly disparaged. It is only an issue when players use it for main character syndrome. As long as people leave space for others in combat and RP scenes, it's not an issue.
