About Jeffrey, The Tenacious DM

👋 Hi! I've been running TTRPGs at least once a week for 8 years and talk a whole lot about these games that kinda changed my life on socials as @TheTenaciousDM. 🧙‍♂️ I love building homebrew worlds and settings - I've developed dozens of them! I take particular pride in my magical college setting: The University of Isregego. It's a high-fantasy college where players compete for prestige within the hierarchy of the student body while facing weirdly common incursions of evil forces that I've run for 3 different groups (the longest one went from levels 3-12 over 50+ sessions!) 📖 I like to keep the story and the game flowing at my tables and I value prep, systems, and tools that help us stay immersed. I build my worlds around my players, both in prep and as they make decisions in our sessions, and frequently follow my players' curiosity as it veers off from the main story (and conveniently becomes the new main story). This is a 𝘤𝘰𝘭𝘭𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘷𝘦 storytelling experience we're engaging in, and I do my best to stand out of my players' way so that they can shine as they so often do. 👊 I'm also incredibly excited to bring a special game type I've developed with fellow DMs: Legendary Fight Club. Skip right to the boss fight with the high-level characters you've been dreaming about playing and face down the toughest monsters you can find in the Monster Manual. 🏳️‍🌈 I strive to make sure my games are spaces of inclusivity and are always LGBTQIA+ friendly, and I take great care to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable at my table. ❤️

I got started GMing...

because I was the only one in the friend group who had played ANY tabletop games. It took me very little time to fall in love with GMing, and I now prefer to run games over playing in them.

My favorite shows/movies are

always changing! But classics include Steven Universe, Adventure Time, and Avatar: The Last Airbender. Current favorites are Hazbin Hotel, Solo Leveling, Game Changer, and Dandadan.

When I'm not running games I'm...

learning new TTRPGs! I'm on a quest to learn as many tabletop games as I can, so I can roll up to the new gaming group and use the right system to best model any gaming experience the group wants to play.

How Jeffrey, The Tenacious DM runs games

I love Combat, Social, and Exploration - I can't pick just one! I aim to run combat smoothly but also design encounters that are engaging and stressful (in the good way). I've made hundreds of NPCs and take care to make them important to the story while also fun and/or interesting to talk to. And for exploration, puzzles are my jam - five room dungeon design with diverse challenges is where I excel.

Rules are...

only in place to facilitate fun. If they're in the way, discard them. That being said, I also run Legendary Fight Club, which thrives on the satisfaction of following the rules to the letter so players can proclaim that they legitimately beat some of the toughest monsters in the Monster Manual...
