About James

Hi! I’m James, and I love creating stories. Whether it’s dredging the depths of an ancient mine, solving a mysterious disappearance, or discovering the friends we made along the way, I want nothing more to explore strange new worlds with others. While I haven’t had a ton of experience GMing, I’ve been playing DND for years now and have peeked behind the curtain of prepping adventures and crafting campaigns. Let’s build a story together!

I got started GMing...

As most people do: playing with a group of close friends on a weekly game night.

My favorite books are

If I were to pick three books as all-time favorites, I’d say 1984 by George Orwell, Dracula by Bram Stoker, and Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. Honorary shoutout to the Space Trilogy by C.S. Lewis.

My favorite shows/movies are

My favorite movie is Dune Part 1 and Part 2. If they are considered parts of a whole it should be considered one movie and I will die on that hill. My favorite TV show is Breaking Bad.

How James runs games

I’m extremely detail-oriented when it comes to game nights and campaigns in general. I love roleplaying and bringing players into their own characters as they explore the world. I also enjoy crafting detailed text-based side-quests for players to continue exploring after game nights. My goal is to create an immersive journey for anyone playing through one of my campaigns!

My games focus on...

Heartfelt storytelling where every character at the table has a role to play in.

Rules are...

1. Have fun! 2. If game rules violate rule #1, refer to rule #1. 3. ??? 4. Profit

When it comes to voices

They are beloved by all and are enthusiastically encouraged!

James's ideal table

If I were to give a term to what my table is like, I’d say “loosey goosey.” That applies to the game itself, but also to the dynamics at my table. It’s more important to me that players at my table have fun, get to know each other, and build a fun story together, than to stick to a rigid format every game session. Vibes: chill. Players: fun-oriented.

Dimension 20 on Dropout TV. Great vibes, great storytelling, great people. The table I aspire to be.

I love it when a player

Suggests an action so out-of-pocket I can’t help but let them roll the dice (rules be damned).
