I got started GMing...

With world building and NPC creation in persistent homebrew settings as an outlet for my neurotic love of detail rich creative writing in the pursuit of collaborative story telling with friends. The details of TTRPGs can literally keep me up at night!

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be

1) Traveller - Mongoose 2nd Edition 2) Delta Green 3) Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (2014 ruleset)

People are always surprised when I tell them

I'm a former Marine Scout/Sniper, Critical Care Registered Nurse, Organ Transplant Coordinator, Husband, Father, Prepper & Homesteader!

How Lee runs games

I'm a detail oriented GM who prioritizes fun, detailed scenarios, player immersion, agency, engagement and ample opportunities for contribution for any players who grace my table with their presence. I revel in spending my days meticulously crafting mature, detailed realms, where players feel as though they are part of a living world, rich with history & lore, intriguing allies & terrible foes. I do my best to provide heroic opportunities for all players to share in the glory, with each contributing to the synergy of the party as a whole.

I prep by

I prep by listening to thematically appropriate music to get my mind focused and reading or preferably writing all the little intricate details about the setting and the characters in it that make things consistent and believable for both myself and the players who are crafting a story with me!

Rules are...

Rules are there as a framework for fun and guidance on how to abstract complex situations. That being said, I will sometimes call for a roll outside RAW depending on my interpretation of the player's intent and the current situation of what they are trying to achieve.

When it comes to voices

It's admittedly rare for me to speak in profoundly different voices as I only have a handful that I consider myself good at. More often than not, I will describe the nuances of the NPC's voice and tone, and try my best to match what they actually say to that throughout.

Lee's ideal table

My table is open and welcoming to all. I pride myself in creating a creative space for collaborative story telling where everyone contributes. I tend to run games that are detail rich, and thematically mature and most of my experience running a game table is with like minded players. The only thing I am strict on (that I'm aware of) is that I do not like it when players get way off topic (outside of the current game of scenario), or meta-game or strategize out of character during tense moments in game such as combat. I have a strong preference when players engage with each other in character to collaboratively solve the problems that they face. I really value everyone's play time when we come together on game night, and I make a concerted effort to keep gameplay moving and everyone focused on the scenario and situation at hand when we get together to play to make sure that we get as much precious play time as possible!

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table

If you're into immersion, you're going to love my table! I pride myself on setting the scene and trying to describe not only the visual description, but the way a scene makes you "feel", engaging all senses for a immersive gestalt experience where the player is left with a memory of the event after!

I love it when a player

I absolutely love it when players share the spotlight with other players, specifically speaking to other player characters in-character to communicate and collaborate to solve the dynamic problems they face.

My table is not the place for...

My table is not the place for telling RPG war stories about epic experiences during other games, or contemplating one of one hundred "what if" theoretical scenarios. Please be respectful to all player's valuable play time and save those comments for Discord chat between game sessions!
