As a seasoned GM, and one of the Premier Dungeon Masters for hire in Melbourne, Australia, I bring a lot of resources and experience in storytelling, theatricality and nuance. Studying the performing arts at a tertiary level for many years along with degrees in literature, contemporary arts and drama, as well as a stint at Melbourne’s prestigious VCA, I’m confident that I’ll be able to help you create a story and adventure that you’ll remember for a long time to come. I got started GMing...

because some friends of mine asked me to run some games during lockdown. They commented that they had a much better time than some of the games they'd paid to play, and I haven't looked back.

usually found online playing various games for Xbox, Switch or even just floating around Board Game Arena. Our Online shop keeps me busy, so if I'm not at the table, you can usually find me there or at a convention or two.

How Matt the GM runs games

My style of GM’ing will change according to the party I’m playing with. Want to go for it and pick a fight with everything you come across? Sure! I’ll adapt NPC voices and styles to suit. Want to develop a big, meaty backstory that will most definitely come back to haunt you? Absolutely! I’ll create instances throughout our adventure that will allow you to explore your character and who they truly are. Want to spend more time at a tavern and socialize with the other party members? My pleasure! My barkeep/innkeeper characters will welcome you with a friendly greeting and a fine goblet of ale… for a fair price o’ course! I’m happy to run pre-existing adventures or one of my own creation for seasoned gamers and new players alike. I specialize in teaching the games to those with little to no experience, but am always happy to explore the depths of the darkest places with all manner of nasty beasties for all levels.

Matt the GM's ideal table

My ideal table is full of players that are able to embrace the fantasy or sci-fi role-play. Knowledge of the different game systems is not essential at the table, you just need to bring enthusiasm and a patience and respect for your fellow gamers. Ideally, we'd be able to play at my table - where I have access to all of my Dwarven Forge terrain for some truly epic set pieces for fierce battles and storytelling!
