About Chance Murray

Hello! my name is chance and I have been a forever DM since 2017 when I got into tabletop RPG's at the latter half of my service in the United States Navy. My primary experience being with D&D 5e but I am making it a mission to branch out and learn other systems. I tend to homebrew most of my games so depending on what the group is looking for I can customize any sort of experience tailored to numerous types of genres or themes. I usually run very roleplay centered experiences as I am a sucker for a good story and I make it my mission to ensure everyone at the table feels safe, respected, and that they always get their own time to shine. My experience includes running games such as D&D 5e, Starfinder, The Sentinel Comics rpg, Dark Heresy, Rogue Trader, Deathwatch, Soulbound, and I am hopeful to run many more! Before every game I expect everyone to fill out an RPG consent sheet to ensure that we avoid any subjects or themes that make any of the players uncomfortable. I am open and willing to try anything so long as the party as a whole agrees to what is being proposed. I put fun at the center of my priorities and I play loose with some of the rules so long as it makes the experience more enjoyable at the table for everyone. If there is something that somebody doesn't like I keep an open channel to all. EVERYONE deserves to have a safe and enjoyable experience at the table. I can't wait for us to build extraordinary stories together!

How Chance Murray runs games

I am a very roleplay centered GM, I want to craft enriching and immersive stories for my players and their characters. If it's a game that doesn't require you to play in an already established universe such as the Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Fantasy, or Age of Sigmar, you can expect a custom and handmade world built by myself and any input the players would like to add for their experience. I love homebrew as I feel like it gives a whole new experience and plenty of opportunity for a unique experience. I create maps, either using online tools or hand drawn, and create every faction, nation, group, and character myself. This does not exclude those who want me to run a game in an established world as I will work hard to ensure I respect the material and bring the players an immersive experience whether they are in the forgotten realms, Warhammer 40,000, ect. At the end of the day though rule of cool will always win out as long as everyone in the party is open to it. I prioritize consent above all else in my games. I will always ask if the other players are okay with something if its anything happening between players. Player-Player combat or shenanigans will always be checked to make sure both parties are consenting to what is happening. There will be no single protagonists at my table as everyone deserves to feel important.

I deal with rules issues by...

asking the players how they feel about it and whether or not it will dampen the experience.

I once ran a session...

For eight hours until six in the morning.

Rules are...

Good to keep things equal until they restrict players from having fun. Rule of Cool all the way!

Chance Murray's ideal table

My ideal table is a table of five to six individuals who love roleplay and character development. Especially when its developed between each others characters to build a trusting and loving team. Give me a group of theatre lovers and I will be happy. I want everyone to be crying from laughter and have tense moments that we all celebrate when you manage to pull off something impossible. I want to give my players an experience they will always remember.

Drama

I love it when a player

Writes pages of lore for their character and gives themselves a reason for their character to want to work alongside the other PC's.

I think it's a red flag when players...

Talk over other players to have their character interject in everything. Or uses the game as an excuse to be creepy.
