About Nicolas
Hello and welcome all. I have been playing tabletop games for nearly three decades now and GMing for at least half of that time. I love making homebrew worlds and designing tabletop games. It's always a treat to try a new system, even if it can be overwhelming at first. Though my primary GM experience is with DnD 5e & Pathfinder 2E nowadays, I have played many other systems in my time. I pride myself as a GM who is always open to player input and modifying things. After all, the goal of any tabletop experience is to have fun.

I ran my first game...
Back in high school, in D&D 4E nearly 20 years ago. It was just a one-shot, and I definitely did not balance or time things very well. But I learned a lot in the next few years, so that in college I successfully ran my first full campaign as part of the D&D 5E playtesting phase.
My favorite system of all Time is
my own homebrew TTRPG system, currently codenamed "Fortune's Entropy". I have successfully run a full playtest campaign and I am currently working on editing it all together. I hope to release it as its own product someday!
When I'm not running games I'm...
or playing games, I'm probably off swimming. I've been a competitive swimmer for a long time and hold a few regional records for my age group. I hope to keep swimming, competing, and keep collecting records as I get older and older.
How Nicolas runs games
I like to work with the players to craft an experience that the entire party can enjoy. Sometimes that means crafting tense combat heavy encounters, other times that means crafting encounters that are more about exploration or problem solving, or any number of possibilities. As such, I do my best to keep an open mind and give my players lots of input and freedom.

Rules are...
important but having fun is more important. I'm definitely willing to bend things, but usually not snap them in half.
When it comes to voices
... I don't have a big range and I'm aware of my own limitations. So I usually try and change my vocabulary choice and way of speaking to indicate when I am a certain character. And sometimes I just have to narrate or describe it as them.
Nicolas's ideal table
My table is often more player driven than me trying to steer or railroad the narrative. As such, I like players that are more active than passive or reactive. That being said, I do my best to put some stakes on the line and time sensitive goals, so things don't go too far.

I love it when a player
is able to recap the last session. Either from just being invested in it or taking notes. And I love to give inspiration or similar benefits to invested players.
I think min/maxing...
is not necessary. I like to give my players extra items or benefits to make them strong, but I like to tie it into their backgrounds or their stories as the campaign moves forward. Like if I give an extra feat at level 1, I want it to be a flavorful choice, not the strongest mechanical choice.
