About Paul
I'm a passionate forever DM who enjoys telling stories, improvising, and laughing out loud. I mostly played with my friends, slowly bringing in new people. In my personal life I'm caught up in finishing Masks of Nyarlathotep.

My 3 systems I'd bring to a desert island would be
Call of Cthulhu, Delta Green and Alien RPG
My favorite books are
The Mistborn Cycle by Brandon Sanderson, Dune by Frank Herbert, Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
My favorite shows/movies are
Friends (yes, I'm that old), Supernatural, Altered Carbon, Stranger Things, Big Bang Theory (it's a laugh track comedy sandwich). For movies I would pick Alien, the new Dune, Tucker and Dale vs Evil and many others.
How Paul runs games
I love roleplay, propper old-school thrillers and horror. My favorite thing in a game is a beautiful, sometimes bone-chilling story. Combat for me is rare and deadly, investigation is grim and mysterious.

I deal with rules issues by...
different means: sometimes we just use the Rule of Cool, if the narrative is too slow or could benefit from some more drama we take a lighter approach to rules, and if I mess up and my PCs would like a retcon we retcon and try to weave it into the narrative.
My games focus on...
heavy investigation, mystery and tension.
Rules are...
a scaffold for more interesting things. A structure to build on and expand a story. A tool to give direction.
Paul's ideal table
I like players who roleplay the situation they find their characters in, even better if they roleplay their character. I like players who have fun, who laugh and release tension, who can easily switch between IRL and in-game. I like polite and considerate players, I like a table that is inclusive and welcoming to anyone.

I think min/maxing...
should not be a thing we aim for. I like roleplay and believable characters, not fine-tuned machines, purpose-built to succeed at everything. I like killing off min-maxed characters to that the player can get a more balanced backup.
My table is not the place for...
rudeness, uncalled for profanity, or any kind of impoliteness directed to anything outside the game world. Even in game I'd rather maintain civility and politeness, minimising dirty language. Also, no politics, religion, or other divisive subjects unless relevant to the game world.
