I became a GM because
I wanted to run games which told incredible collaborative stories. Ones with 'You Had To Be There Moments'!
The three words my players would use to describe me are...
Evocative, Creative and Passionate!
When I'm not running games I'm...
usually running improv classes (both in person and online) or jumping between different media intakes i.e. listening to horror podcasts/audio books/music, watching horror tv shows or films, playing horror video games (very much into the horror genre!). I also love going out on my bike about town!
How Fiona runs games
My GM playstyle focuses on telling incredible stories and character driven narrative at the table regardless of what system on offer. I empower players to make bold choices which lead to 'You Had To Be There!' moments. I have experience in many different kinds of systems and, along with my training in improvisational theatre, I am always prepared to 'rule of cool' the system the rules to fit the experience of our table.

I once ran a session...
for a group of final winners of an ALIEN RPG tournament by completely improvising the scenario last minute. I learnt that between the players, they had played all the written scenarios and were looking for something truly scary - so I had their characters wake up in a maternity ward on a spaceship!
My favorite trope is...
describing ominous details about a scene which the characters don't see/aren't a part of. Like they have just turned away or have left the room. Helps amps up the atmosphere of a session!
My games focus on...
making memorable moments whilst learning how to use/bend the rules to suit our group's style of game.
Fiona's ideal table
I love players who are interested in learning different games / rules in order to make stories they wouldn't have done otherwise. Players who can play within any genre presented or any tone agreed upon. Players who can go out of their comfort zone/familiar spaces to explore something new, who like a challenge. Equally, I love players who are good scene partners to the others around table. Those who are active listeners, building on what other folks are suggesting, willing to share the spotlight. The vibes at my table depend on the scenario but I feel, in general, the vibes are always welcoming and encouraging to any player (from any level of experience/background). I always do player accommodations and check ins at the top of each session as well as run Lines & Veils as a pre Session 0/1 safety tool. At the end of each session, I run a player check out/debrief which includes Stars and Wishes tool.

If you're into ___, you're going to love my table
trying new systems, creating unusual stories collaboratively with new friends and having a good time
I love it when a player
engages with the narrative and adds to it with some sort of call back or recalling of a theme seen earlier. So cool when that happens!
My perfect party mix is
an odd blend of soundtracks, musicals and the odd cover of a famous song (in a minor key) to show a different side to a story!
